By sticking to 3 primary colors (in this case salmon, burgundy, and grey) I can manipulate them in engine to be whatever color I want, same way Halo does it, the lighting gets added on top in the material, as shown in the attached images 2/2

the original game has all the facial expressions in a big atlas which I've replicated here, but if I were to put this into production I'm thinking I'd split the eyes and the mouth into separate atlases so they can be mixed and matched

I already had to multiply the unlit texture by an inverted preexposure node to get them looking not completely washed out, I'll def look into yanking the tone mapper I'm also considering how to be more efficient with the style on the back end

Tried my hand at recreating #Volnut from Mega Man Legends in the original style, using models resource to get an idea of the polygon structure and concept art for the actual shape, its resulted in some noticeable differences in proportions but I'm pretty happy with it #megamanlegends #sfw #lowpoly
