I have a BIG issue with how they handled every allegation from a PR stand point. Even when I presented these steam assets in ReStory discord it was met with the CEO going "woe is the game industry" in contrast to the TinyBuild publishers discord with staff telling me they would actually investigate.

We are not using any genAI for game assets and art. It's clear. We also made an artbook with all sketches etc. It costs money but you can see some pages in screenshots on DLC pages. We are making games more then 10 years as a studio and ReStory is our 5th project. Me personally don't like AI for any content or creative related and I'd wish to stay in pre-AI era 🙁 The industry I loved so much since I watched Indie Game The Movie changes now and I don't like in what direction.

Please do your own looking into it, genuinely! At first glance, I couldn't even catch what was up with the notebook until someone pointed out the fold. There's a vignette filter, so it's hard to see, but when I adjust the white levels... that page fold down the middle?

offers an explanation and INVESTIGATES. There's a chance that either an internal or outsourced artist is lying about their process, so INVESTIGATE. Multiple times when someone has pointed these issues, it was met with snark or woe from the developer Mandragora. That's not okay. It would go a - 2/3

an excerpt from this thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/3812600/discussions/0/684114096137701359/?ctp=2

Development staff is responding to AI allegations with:

Me personally as a studio head worked with an artist on the key art for the game. We made it internally without publisher so I’m pretty sure what I am talking about. I have no idea how “ai detectors” work. Never used something like this. But… are you using AI tools to detect if developer used AI in his work to burn him as a witch! 😀

We didn’t use AI on any stage: nothing even like color correction etc. I also don’t know how to make something really good and stylish by using AI. It’s usually looks like a crap.

It’s our 5th game, we are working since 2014 and never used AI in our work. And it’s so crazy that any 2D art now claimed as AI-generated. It’s really disrespectful to our artists who put their soul and make tons of iterations to make something cool and outstanding.

Steam? I must state that everything I have said is of my own opinion. My claims are alleged, so please look at the images for yourself. Even a non-artist can notice issues with the images in the thread below, and the key art shared thus far. 5/5

ReStory Key Art showcasing a girl holding money, while someone wipes clean a broken system that resembles a DS. There are several signs of, in my opinion, AI use in the image.

surrounding the creation of the in game art assets. Why do I need to join the ReStory Discord to seek transparency? Why is it a member of the publishing team acknowledging the issue below? Will we receive an update on this investigation or disclosure of the alleged AI use in the trailer on - 4/5

an image of a handheld console missing a button, with a user in discord stating " hi so I keep seeing people say this game has no ai use. so. what's this about? is missing an entire button when you have to "animate" the title art for the trailer a Normal Human mistake? it was covered in the original image and this strange tweening effect doesn't seem to know these buttons come in fours so it just guessed
I'm gonna be honest this one looks pretty damning. which is upsetting because this game seems like it could be fun otherwise. but how can you trust something that's already proven untrustworthy"

a response from a member of the publishing team tiny build stating: Okay, this time I have to agree that it definitely looks fishy.

I can confirm once again with 100% certainty that no AI was used while making the original static version of ReStory key art: it was done internally by Mandragora's artist who worked there for many years. We shared the sketches in the past here https://imgur.com/a/restory-sketches-wishlist-game-on-steam-mSbVwRR

However, this is the animated version of the same key art was meant to use only in that trailer. It was done by an outsource artist. We will investigate further and see if there are other corners that they might have cut. For now we will pause our cooperation with the artist on other projects.

I have to say thank you for pointing our attention at it; honestly I am surprised that tens of thousands of people have seen the trailer over the last couple months, and this is the first time this thing surfaced. Cheers

This however, is damning. This appears to be earlier asset that was AI Generated, then cleaned prior to final use in the game as the primary background image. Several other assets within the game have the same tell tale signs. I want to disclose that I am partnered with tinyBuild, developers - 2/5

🗣️ Who's That #Pokemon!? | It's Mareep!! [3/6] The third Pokemon drawn on stream with no reference and I felt SO confident about this one... I didn't think I'd be THIS far off! 😭

My "Mareep" that looks more like a poodle. It's blue, with fluffy beige fur, has two horns that have yellow stripes, and long poodle ears ending in yellow puffs. It has a tail that ends in a yellow stripped ball.

Mareep is an ovine Pokémon with fluffy cream-colored wool covering its entire body, as well as a curly tuft of wool in the middle of its head. Its head is blue, and it has small brown eyes. Its four feet are blue and have two digits on each foot, and it appears to be on tiptoe at all times. Its conical ears and tail have a yellow-and-black striped pattern

🗣️ Who's That #Pokemon!? | It's Xurkitree!! [2/6] (Another Pokemon drawn on stream with no reference and... who tf is Xurkitree!?! Oh my GOD. I'm such a Kanto kid.. 😭)

What I thought Xurkitree would look like. Circuits + Tree. I thought I was cooking... It looks like a Geodude with a long stick coming from his head, with electric sparks coming form the top, to branch out like a tree.

Xurkitree is a very tall Ultra Beast that resembles a vaguely humanoid mass of electrical wiring. Its "head" is a white, brightly glowing, spiky electric bulb with numerous points and no visible face. Below its head is a mass of black cables for its torso and limbs; there are white bands resembling zip ties throughout its body as well. Its arms have ties where its shoulders, elbows, and wrists would be. The upper arms have two cables, while the lower have three. At the ends of its arms are copper structures that resemble hands, each with six flat "fingers". The legs have ties at the hips, knees, and ankles and are composed of four cables fused together for the whole length. The feet have four toes possessing "claws" of exposed copper; each foot has two fused toes pointing forward and two separate toes pointing backward. Finally, its tail has three ties and four cables, one of them loose in two sections. The tail ends in what resembles a three-pronged plug.

A little critter hanging onto a blue flower stem. It's white and has little beady eyes and pink cheeks, and is shaped like a humanoid, with long teal ears and teal petals on it's head? Something like that.
