adred was already on my radar w an outstanding metalheadz record. this chikara project ep reigns it in from dnb bpm to something slow that rolls faster than normal downtempo chillout music. moody and richly dense jazzstep synths but the club drums aren't breakbeats, just beats. nice dubs. good wubs

gigi fm new single, a throwback to 90s trip-hop songwriting w production quality that doesn't show much age. layers of sultry polyrhythmic vocals glitching and harmonizing gives me björk, but the pace and cyberpunk thud/twinkle are more tricky (as in martina topley-bird). longful wailing. post-post

the selecter at the bbc, a killer compilation of peel sesh, ogwt, look! hear! and more. hornless ska is way more spy- and goth-coded, but even still the transition from 79 to 81 in their sound is pretty stark. pressure from the state becomes pressure from the industry, ethical crumbling, finding out

dj yoshino reissue of early 00s gush collective (pardon the pun) liquid ukg. part of the euro movement playing with the sparse, techy, less-is-more direction bass music was going in, adding equally clean 90s house elements. the peaky beats collab track is pretty orbital, but also unmistakably garage

fwiw most of his comic work was taken from comics that came out the same year as he started each painting, which i think may have been partially the point: everything in the 60s was new, different, now, and here are comics, selling sex and war like wwii and what followed never happened

lichtenstein was in the 67 international, though i don't think it would've been the comic page reproductions that established his fame. looking at how his direction changed articulates the work that came before in a new way for me. pop art's serialization is said to be industrial but no, it's comics
