Bonus: Some old derived datasets. web.archive.org/web/20161224... The original website was linked from: mars.asu.edu/data/mola_ro... (unmantained link) It seems some partial/total/updated Zenodo counterpart of such data exists: zenodo.org/records/1573...

In order: It seems crawls of the Brown-Vernadsky (or vice versa) meetings in the period 2000-2005 are available here: web.archive.org/web/20080725... Slightly longer time series here (mostly just programs): web.archive.org/web/20161224...

To be fair, for one of the items above, there is also still an abstract from LPSC (of course on ADS, too). www.lpi.usra.edu/meetings/lps...

Also, those are not ancient resources. They are "just" 10-20 years old. Yet, they are almost forgotten... Is anyone aware of any rescued documents / data? @mrak.solarsystem.social @dsfpspacefl1ght.bsky.social @drspacejunk.bsky.social

Wikis might be not too easy to capture. This went down years ago, and its partial record sits - again - on the Internet Archive: web.archive.org/web/20160310...

I then discovered Plan9 (the OS), its logo Space Glenda, which is one of the cutest I have ever seen. Designed by @reneefrench.bsky.social. So cute it was adopted for the 2015 Planetary GIS Workshop at @science.esa.int. Instrumental to @openplanetary.solarsystem.social 9p.io/plan9/glenda...

Additional meetings attached to LPSC: Such as the ISPRS WG IV/9: Extraterrestrial Mapping Workshop "Advances in Planetary Mapping 2003". web.archive.org/web/20030326... E.g. this abstract is - strangely - linked to the birth of @openplanetary.solarsystem.social web.archive.org/web/20041102...

Brown-Vernadsky Microsymposia: They were back2back with LPSC (currently mostly known for abstract deletions...). Webpages for those workshops were hosted on @brown.edu servers though, and they do not seem to be reachable anymore. For example, 1990s vibes at: web.archive.org/web/20030320...

This is a small thread on #PlanetaryScience and how certain old resources are retained - I fear - only on @archive.org. Even ADS seems to miss them. This thread is by all means no complete account. Technology is there to try and preserve, and make discoverable (again) such scholarly record.

It's been the case for many years (since I discovered your blog long ago). In such times historical memory (institutional websites have no guarantee of survival) of space exploration is even more valuable.

In this time of continental dismantling of #PlanetaryScience, @openplanetary.solarsystem.social still exists, so @coop.planetary-research.org. Apart from a new Diamond OA Journal, there is also solarsystem.video. Soon to include @europlanetmedia.bsky.social 2021+ Winter School content.

Those laid off will likely not review, those with frozen/lost grants also less likely to review. Editorial boards are going to be affected, too.

Stuff might never get back to previous state. But among the many larger disruptions,I guess also some second+ order practical effects on science will take place, e.g. peer review might be variably crippled: Most of the work is done by unpaid reviewers in the business.

What happens to federal institutes in the US. i.e. implementing some sort of "disrupt everything" - with more or less revenge embedded - to all kinds of civil servants, grant recipients, folks on soft money (but tenured are probably not safe) might be inelastic.
