Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 01/05/2025The new #PokemonTCGPocket set has a surprising amount of power creep for a game that used to be pretty good about balance. Decidueye EX and Solgaleo EX are so overpowered that I haven't found a good way to compete with them yet (except Oricorio-Electric). And, if both of their main attacks had […]fosstodon.orgOriginal post on fosstodon.org 000
Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 28/04/2025@RxBrad It looks awesome and I want to try it. There are too many games I want to try now, my backlog is already long enough... 100
Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 28/04/2025Fedi drama is exhausting and I try very hard to avoid it, but if even Kev is leaving then it's time to jump ship. I'm planning to move to a self-hosted glitch-soc instance in the next few days. 100
Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 27/04/2025@SnoopJ This game looks so interesting and I really want to play it, there's just so much else in my backlog to get to first... 000

Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 13/04/2025Another library frustration: is there a standard Make-like task runner tool for #Node? 10 years ago Grunt and Gulp were standard for this, but they're horribly out of date now and not compatible with ES6 imports. There are tools in other languages, like go-task, but I can't find anything similar […]fosstodon.orgOriginal post on fosstodon.org 000
Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 12/04/2025It's 2025, and there's still no widely-used standardized RPC protocol for #WebSocket. I've looked from time to time, and I never find anything. WAMP is perhaps the closest, but it's massively complex, needs a separate router, and the company that "owns" it (Crossbar) is dead. What else is […]fosstodon.orgOriginal post on fosstodon.org 000
Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 03/04/2025A game idea I'd love to see made someday, or make myself if I had time for yet another project: a combination RTS and 4X game with a day/night cycle that switches it between turn-based and real-time. During the day, things move in real time; in the early game you manually move hunters and […]fosstodon.orgOriginal post on fosstodon.org 000

Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 15/03/2025After spending all day trying to fix this, reinstalling Linux Mint on 2 different hard drives and getting different file corruption errors each time, I'm convinced it's just the motherboard. Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 15/03/2025@spacehobo 451 actually makes sense when you consider that 4xx should mean "don't try the same request again, it won't work next time either". 410 Gone isn't the client's fault either. Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 14/03/2025I already copied my important files to another drive and they look fine so now I'm just trying any potentially destructive thing that might work without a full reinstall. `btrfs rescue zero-log` followed by `btrfs check --rescue` is doing something, not segfaulting, but it's been printing […]fosstodon.orgOriginal post on fosstodon.org 100
Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 14/03/2025Looks like the issue may have just been a loose NVMe connection? Either way, after re-seating the NVMe drive it boots without issues, but `btrfs scrub` fails with a metadata error so something is still wrong, going to try `btrfs check --repair` from a live CD... 100

Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 27/02/2025@rakslice Ignoring edits is unfixable because Bluesky itself doesn't have edits. But it would be nice if Bridgy gave you the option to interpret an edit as a delete-and-repost. 000
Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 21/02/2025@eblu There are way, way too many choices. Pick a language you know well enough and there's probably a web framework in it. Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 16/02/2025The mismatched leaders/civs are kind of immersion-breaking but also interesting enough that I still think it's a plus. Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 16/02/2025Against my better judgment, I bought Civ 7. And I'm enjoying it so far! Adam Nelson @arnelson.fosstodon.org.ap.brid.gy · 29/01/2025@nevarro And I have cell internet now but it's too slow to host anything on; it also doesn't have a stable IP so I have a cloud server as a gateway.
