The setting as presented isn't exactly ideal, given how lethal the world is shown to be with the monsters and bandits and all that...but even the lethality isn't that bad cause there's a high chance you can just get up afterwards, or go to one of a ton of nice afterlives that people *know* exist.

Ah, Uncharted. I love you so, and yet you are so very, VERY 2010s gaming. 3 is probably the single weakest entry by far too.

I must ask, why the arrows on the clothing? Or is it just a design to specifically say "THIS GUY'S A CRIMINAL" as much as that means anything on Mundain?

I think Southern Gothic would be the closest, yes. Alternatively if you're going for more of a cowboy thing then it's more Weird West.

As an additional stopgap, the layer outside the core is essentially one massive fortress-city built on the underside of the layer above, with the core acting as a 'sun' in the 'sky.' (Yes I was inspired by the old Sump Witch idea)

This is a deliberate alteration to the planet by the gods not to prevent people from digging too far down, but to stop a malicious entity they have sealed in the world's hollow core from making it to the surface if it ever escapes.

I've been working on a worldbuilding project that has a semi-layered world, and the explanation for how there's a massive Underdark-esque cave system is that once you get deep enough you just kinda slip into another plane that is entirely just caves. There's no obvious point of transition.

The Captain's Hook: A blunted bronze hook-hand engraved to appear as a tentacle. Can be animated once per day to act as an actual tentacle for the wearer. Inexplicably renders pixies and Dragonkin of a crocodilian bent hostile.

Ooh, lovely! I do often wonder how a modern take on the game would look. It's kinda odd because while the original's models were fairly anime stylized, the lighting leaned more realistic. I'm not sure if I can immediately think of a recent game that has a similar vibe...something from Atlus, maybe?

I think we've long established that Kratos does not generally make good decisions. And she was a Norse giant. They can shapeshift. She could very well have been a huge.

There's a podcast I listen to that, back when this thing first came out, concluded that the chart increases the 'score' based on how far from the main Blizzard offices in California you would have to go to regularly encounter someone with the given trait.

One more major expansion planned, something about a haunted ship graveyard. After that I would assume they're all in on Dark Heresy.

Oh, that is a *really* strong design (in more ways than one). This gal would do numbers with the hypnoart community, even just SFW. They love their smug creatures.

I've been following you for years and years now, (since the old Hyrule OCT I think, after seeing your Miniblin OC), and never not enjoyed what you have made. Rest assured, wandering or not, your work is always appreciated.

Not a audiobook, but if the DnD webcomic Order of the Stick has a lich main villain who the author has expressly created to be "not just evil, but also just a dick." His whole thing is power for the sake of never being told what to do, by anyone, ever. Not for any deep reason, just because.

Considering how most of Mundain seems pretty worker-forward, aligning with the morally bankrupt anarchocapitalist not!nobilty probably puts you in some folks bad books.

They got literally split by the Moonthings between the lower halves of the centaur race and the heads of the beastmen.

Ah, right, I forgot you updated the map. Was still operating on the old geography. I imagine The Long Drop doesn't help exploration southward either...downward however...

Followup question, how common is non-Krakenship sea trade/travel? Raising a giant sea beast *and* building a functional ship to staple on its back sounds expensive, but are there enough sea monsters roaming Mundain's waters to justify it?

I don't think there *are* seasons, really. It's just varying degrees of summer.

Armada6136 @armada6136.bsky.social · 03/05/2026
So there's a lot of mentions of pirates on Mundain, but how does that...work, exactly? Do Krakenship sellers have overall neutrality between clans, or are there 'rogue' breeders and shipwrights? Are certain races more inclined to piracy (I don't see centaurs doing so well at sea...)? That stuff.

So does the bard turn into the siren, or is the siren generated from the act of the bard going overboard?

I feel like a novelization of Chimneyspeak would fit this fairly well, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.

I remember these! Still some of my favorite fantasy sea creature designs, especially the big mythical ones. Always good to see more than just the generic 'enemy' sharks.

The effects cost alone of trying to even semi-accurately portray elements of the setting must be enormous. One thing I could see is setting it aboard an Imperial ship, just a singular one, to both sell the scale of the setting and keep it relatively easy to produce.

The only thing I can really say is that if you stop somewhere that sucks, then there's not a lot of chances to find someplace that doesn't. I can't claim to know what's going on on your end, but that's the logic that's kept me going. Pulling for you nevertheless.

The first thing that comes to mind is sincerity. "Edgy" stories have a tendency to feel like they hate themselves and everything in them. Like its very existence is some kind of ironic joke. "Grimy" stories feel more like they actually want to be read and experienced, even if they are unpleasant.

...can we see it?

Hmm...thing is, you could make similar arguments for the old map. North was vast ocean filled with sea monsters, east was the expanse of the Red Desert, south was the Bone Forest, and west was the fae swamps and then the high mountains. All reasonably difficult to explore beyond, I'd think.

I do have to ask, how were you imagining it? My perception was that they were effectively huge caverns stacked on top of each other with the floor of one being the roof of the previous world.
