my hubris is weighting out my model and then realizing that I really want to fix up her hair but in the meantime. playing around with the rig.

also have a working mouth rig which I still want to refine a bit. Unsure if I want to commit to having bones for the mouth or if I want to replace it with blendshapes, but for right now it's in a good spot, though I might need to tweak the topo on the cheeks a bit just bc there are some odd spots.

havent updated in a while but!! still fixing clipping issues LOL. in the final stretch though I think, once I have the jacket all finished I think the weights are in a presentable shape which means I'll be able to move on to textures. Excited!!

quick pose warmup for today of June while I get ready to update my AF characters with proper thumbnails LOL #ocsky

image is a pose of my OC June, a short haired readheaded girl as she's looking upwards at the viewer, one hand raised above her face. She's wearing a cozy casual outfit of a pink crop top and some black shorts.

weight painting proving to be more challenging than I thought but also v rewarding!!! learning a lot about how to structure future models for smoother rigging. I do want to try and refine the mesh a bit too with some proper constraints, but for what I have rn I am feeling good.

image is a screenshot of a Blender workspace - I'm weight painting a model, with areas constrained to my skeletal rig highlighted in warm colors.

Starting on the UVs and really just losing it a little over how silly the auto unwrap on the hands ended up looking.

Ark @ Raccoon City @arkusene.bsky.social · 23/02/2026

Ended up revisiting the wings in another pass and... these could PROBABLY have cleaner topology, LOL. pretty happy with the look so far. Really want to say that I'm in the home stretch on this model but I really want to touch up the hair some more before I move on to UV unwrapping.

looking back at old OC pieces, thinking about how bad I need to revisit this idea bc I've had a DMC-style Devil Trigger sitting in my head for Thalia for!! a few years now, and I really want to try and give it another go and make something that's a little more experimental.
