I've noticed this figure of LGM extents gets re-used quite a lot in presentations etc. Since I was updating the map and its sources for another project, here is the latest iteration for people to enjoy ⚒️ 🗺️ doi.org/10.6084/m9.f...
A map of maximum glacial extents reached by the ice sheets that covered the northern hemisphere during the Last Glacial Maximum between ~27-19 ka BP. Note that these glacial limits are not time-equivalent, and rather reflect the maximum limit of glaciation during the peak of the last ice age. The map is compiled from various studies that have synthesised and interpreted vast amounts of empirical data, details of which can be found at https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.26862304.v1. Where possible, 'most-credible'/'optimal' etc. extents have been used.

The northern Barents Sea could be 7 degrees warmer in 2050. Two scenarios, one a 4 degree increase and the other a 2.5 increase showed similar results. "One of the main findings is that you can't see a difference between these scenarios in 2050," says researcher Marius Årthun, with UiB and BCCR.🧪🌊

Hi everyone! 👋 I'm a marine geologist (reconstructing palaeo-ice sheets dynamics and subglacial hydrology, with sediment cores and acoustic data), who is now working as the project manager for ERC project @i2b-erc.bsky.social at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø 🤩
