(Also the "Learn more" button is useless and just opens the AI bot which says fees ARE refunded. So I'm just going off this one line and the vague email they sent, which doesn't even mention the change for not returning fees.)

An image of the Gumroad AI support bot, with the following circled in red:

Also, remember that Gumroad's 10% fee is refunded to you when you issue a refund to a customer. However, the payment processing fees (2.9% + 30¢) are not refundable.

111

Arkoren Art 🎀 @arkoren.art · 09/01/2025

Gumroad changed how refunds work and no longer return fees to the seller, right after they increased fees from their marketplace to 30%. I believe this means that if someone mistakenly buys a $40 avatar with those fees applied and a seller refunds it, the seller still PAYS Gumroad $12

A Refund button, with the following text underneath:

Going forward, Gumroad does not return any fees when a payment is refunded. Learn more
