Zulu students enjoy an afternoon at Durban Beach, South Africa, in 1998. During the apartheid era, this beach was reserved exclusively for white South Africans. Although the Zulus are South Africa's largest ethnic group, many remain trapped by apartheid's legacy of poverty, inequality, and violence.
