Do you know how Pokemon types being immune to status conditions work? There are *way* more inconsistencies between generations (and within them) than you'd expect.

Notes from the code

RBY
Poison: immune if target is Poison (regardless of move type) - but all the moves are poison
FreezeBurnParalyze side effect: immune if target type matches the move type. (which means Body Slam and Lick can paralyze electrics, but not their own type)
Paralyze (thunder wave, stun spore, glare): immune if the move is Electric AND the target is Ground (hardcoded interaction)

GSC
Poison side effect: immune if the target is poison type OR immune by the type chart (results in twineedle being able to poison steel types, but not any other move)
Burn side effect: immune if target matches move type (unless they are both normal type)
Freeze side effect: immune if target matches move type (unless they are both normal type)
Paralyze side effect: calculates immunity using the type chart (Foresight + Body Slam can paralyze ghosts)
Poison (poisonpowder, poison gas, toxic): immune if the target is poison type OR immune by the type chart (steel types are immune to all of these moves)
Paralyze (thunder wave, stun spore, glare): calculates immunity using the type chart (affects thunder wave on ground and glare on ghost) (Foresight + Glare can paralyze ghosts)
TriStatusChance (tri attack side effect): follows the logic of BattleCommand_ParalyzeTarget, BattleCommand_FreezeTarget, or BattleCommand_ParalyzeTarget

poison - Poison and Steel-types have a universal immunity to poison
burn - Fire-types have a universal immunity to burn
freeze - Ice-types have a universal immunity to freeze
paralysis - Follows the type chart to determine immunity, even for status moves (affects Thunder Wave and Glare)

DPP/BW
poison - Poison and Steel-types have a universal immunity to poison
fire - Fire-types have a universal immunity to burn
freeze - Ice-types have a universal immunity to freeze
paralysis - Thunder Wave alone is hardcoded to follow the type chart, despite being a status move

BW: Same as above

XY+: Electrics immune to paralysis, grass types immune to powder moves.

Maybe some kids now are of a much more "plug-and-play" disposition (which, ironically enough, was how things were at first before consoles with hard drives became a thing), but I remember when I had to set up my PS3 with very slow (for today's standards) internet and all that. Tedious but fun.
