I’ve had an interesting life. Two decades in Asia working and building my manufacturing company. Got into crypto early. Running those two ventures and a cattle ranch in Hawaii now. Very arigato about it all. Hoya Saxa and Quid Facere Audere!

You set the house on fire, watched it burn, and then lost your nerve and put it out. You now have a partially burned house. Great job.

I personally have adopted the pronunciation “dodgy” for DOGE. I suggest you do the same.

Quick question: What would have been the reaction from Republicans if Obama had George Soros come in and take over large parts of the government? That’s a rhetorical question, of course.

Just a reminder that Biden flew 475 flights with deportees from the U.S. to Columbia and managed to do it without threats or puffery. That’s one flight every three days. Trump now has two in six days, achieving nothing additional except trashing the relationship. www.voanews.com/a/trump-orde...

I’ll be pleasantly surprised if: Trump manages to have lower deficits than his predecessor. Trump manages to end the war in Ukraine in a manner Ukraine accepts. Trump manages to get drug cartels recognized as terrorist organizations, both in the U.S. and among other nations.

When looking ba k, focus first on whether or not he accomplished them, and then only talk about why or why not he was able to do it. If you’re not Trump fan, do the same in reverse. Post 3-5 things that you’ll be pleasantly surprised if he does. I’ll even go first.

A challenge to all of my friends here. If you’re a Trump fan, write down and post 3-5 things that you’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t do, that he currently says he will. Hold yourself to this and be honest as time passes about whether he accomplished them if not.

That one’s cashed out a few tens of millions more. Without a doubt, today is the single biggest grift that has ever occurred in crypto, and possibly in the history of the world. It’s going to end very, very badly for 90% of the people involved.

Edit: This is a cross-post, and in the time it took me to getting the post here, the price is up to $61.5, giving Trump more than $55 billion. He’s also cashed out enough to pay back the $1 million initial deposit and pocket ~$20 million — And that’s not including the mystery wallet above.

We don’t know for sure, and if they’re smart we’ll never know, but it has to be someone with $1,000,000 ready cash and who had control over the timing of both the release of the coin and the announcement of it. Welcome, President Grift, to the arena.

It’s also being sold into the many people who have bought into $TRUMP — 600,000 people so far. Anyone want to guess who that wallet owner might be?
100 1
arigatopunk @arigatopunk.bsky.social · 19/01/2025
Go back to that first purchase of $1 million before the coin was even announced by Trump. It’s now worth ~$150M, all owned by one wallet whose owner is unknown to the public, but who knew enough about the coin’s release to get $1 million ready to buy within seconds of $TRUMP becoming available?

Trump then announces the coin. Sales take off. They’re soon worth $1 each, making Trump’s portion theoretically worth $900 million. Then the price goes from to to $30. It’s currently sitting at ~$28, making his cut worth ~$25.2 billion if he could sell it, but he can’t without crushing the price.

In theory, the remaining 90% held by Trump are now worth $9 million. Almost immediately after this, a separate Solana account bought $1 million of $TRUMP, boosting the price to $0.18. Trump’s 90% holdings are now theoretically worth $18 million.

In Trump’s case, here’s how the grift works. All of the 1 billion tokens (coins) are owned by Trump-controlled entities. 10% of the tokens, along with $1 million, was deposited into a decentralized exchange on Solana called Raydium. This put the price of $TRUMP at $0.01.

About a month ago the “Hawk Tuah” girl did the same, as have Soulja Boy (Was performing at Trump’s “Crypto Ball as $TRUMP was launched and announced”, Manny Pacquiano, Lil Yachty, and others in the past. They were all grifts, and $TRUMP is no different.

This promotion results in the shitcoin price going up, allowing the influencers to dump their positions on the people buying later. There are also cases where the influencer or KOL releases the coin themselves, which is the case for $TRUMP.

Memecoins are a subset of the greater “shitcoin” category, defined by projects that offer no value and which often have a grifting component where influencers or KOLs (Key Online Leaders) promise something after being given or purchasing a position themselves.

First, the blockchain. Solana is the blockchain $TRUMP launched upon. Solana is a venture capital funded blockchain that from the very start was created as a way for the investors to make money. It has none of the cypherpunk public good underpinnings that Bitcoin and Ethereum…

As many of you know, I’ve been in crypto for a long time — going on 12+ years now, which is aeons in that world. I first got interested in crypto because of the technology — there was nobody thinking of making money on it back then because Bitcoin, worth ~$100K today, was worth $1-$2 when I started.

Then you weren’t asking the right people. I have a 78-yr-old multinational business with a stellar reputation across global Fortune 50 companies. We use crypto for intra-group settlements because it’s cheaper, faster, & more secure while giving us better yield on unused funds & a tight audit trail.

Ethereum and DeFi, wrapped into the notion of DeFAI, are expanding the reach of cryptocurrencies by making them more accessible and more safe for more users. Aloha. 🤙

while also allowing AI to assist in setting up complex financial strategies — “Using the preselected approved contracts and strategies, put $10,000 where it will likely do best before I need it this summer. Withdraw it into USD on June 1 and notify me of the withdrawal and yield when complete.”

This is the new DeFi, or as people are calling it, DeFAI. It’s a world where Ethereum’s programmable money, running on the Ethereum world computer, gets moved quickly, cheaply, and safely from account to account (Send my Mom $1000, taking it from the cryptocurrency that performed the best today.)

For example, “Take my USD coins and invest them to earn interest in the most efficient way possible using my risk profile.” The the agent makes this safer by only interacting with verified smart contracts while also preventing the user from making a simple mistake, such as typing the wrong address.

Enter AI as both a tool and a security screen. AI capabilities get enormously in 2024, and now those AI models are being turned towards creating “agents”, or helper apps, that make your crypto experience both easier and safer by first allowing you to say what you want to do in natural language —

arigatopunk @arigatopunk.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
But that also adds complexity. The world of decentralized finance, or DeFi, brings huge opportunity to users, but also brings similar opportunities to scammers. Users of DeFi have to be careful to only use verified smart contracts — those Ethereum apps — and to stay away from scams.

Almost any app you can imagine can run on Ethereum, just like almost any app can run on your smartphone. This opens up finance to what we call “programmable money”, or the ability for apps to help you access a huge range of financial instruments normally not available to retail investors.

The emergence of GSM-based digital mobile phones changed the landline paradigm, and the later development of smartphones showed their potential to use lighter, smaller devices to run apps and do far more with their phones. That’s where Ethereum sits now, running the world computer.

Bitcoin has a lot of similarities. It’s primarily limited to send BTC from one wallet to another, and although, like faxes, people have figured out ways of sending images and other information using it, it’s clunky and slow.
