It's been almost a month, and Dante is back to his usual weirdo self ❤️ his electrolyte levels normalized now that he's on the correct treatment, and the pain in his sides is gone. We made it to Muskoka with my mom, and Dante basked and sniffed and pranced. The Fluffy One is back ❤️

ACTH scheduled for tomorrow morning. The vet is doing what they can to lower the cost of the visit by making it a tech appointment, but the test itself is still almost $500. Meanwhile, Dante's eating and drinking regularly. He's become very protective of us, which caught me off guard. Sweet guy ❤️

He's getting stronger! 😭 Because of the electrolyte deficiency that comes with/causes Addison's (not sure which, I'm tired, forgive me), he's been incredibly weak and has barely been able to stand. We just took him out to pee and he wanted to walk further. We sobbed in each other's arms.

We're in for another 24 hours here at the ER. He's doing better overall, but his progress is inconsistent, and the cost is becoming prohibitive. He did, however, eat his first meal in almost 4 days about an hour ago! He's out of the woods, and that's the most important part.

We've been at the emergency vet with Dante for almost 10 hours. After a week or so of ill health, barely eating, and struggling to stand and walk, we finally have a diagnosis: Addison's disease. Thankfully, it's a very treatable condition, and we caught it before he went into shock.

So, this is actually kind of perfect for a very specific reason. When I was growing up, my parents played Cloud Nine a lot, and this song made it onto a couple of my dad's mixtapes we would listen to on long drives. It was one of my favorite songs for a long time. I'd sing it whenever it played.

After hearing about it from friends, we finally attended our first Marche du Nain Rouge and it was spectacular. The event and its guest of honor have an incredibly rich history that connects to the soul of Detroit. Love 'em or hate 'em, the Nain certainly brings the city together.
