I'm finally working on some of my WIPs, so here's a #WIPWEDNESDAY snippet of the next chapter of Holding my Last Breath (fair warning: this will make no sense if you haven't read the first chapters). CW: references to bitching.

Taehyung's eyes grow wide at that, and it takes
everything Jimin has to continue. He can't
believe he's saying all of this aloud. ""You made a
choice, and because of that, I never had one,
There was a way to make that night easier on
me, and you didn't let me take it. That's why
I'm angry."

Taehyung inches closer, still careful not to
touch Jimin, his eyes never leaving him as he
slowly settles against the pillows. "ou wanted
to be an alpha."

Jimin can't quite bring himself to contradict
him. Truth is, he doesn't know what he wanted
from his life, because he never got the chance to
explore. Because, "I didn't want to be violated."
A deep breath, and then, he admits, "It's the
only thing I didn't want."

As scary as the changes in his body are, if he'd
known they were coming, if, like Taehyung,
he'd had months to get used to the idea that this
would be his life, everything would have been
so much easier

He can understand the alphas thinking that he
was going to run away, if he knew. He can even
understand <em>why</em> they thought it
was better if he didn't know. In their minds,
they were protecting him from the worse fate
that would await him if he ran. And protecting
themselves, too. He knows Yoongi didn't say
what he said just to scare him. He can feel, deep
in his bones, that they would have come for him
and, later, inflicted whichever punishment the
elders deemed necessary. But he also knows,
somehow, that what happened on the blood
moon was something they could justify to
themselves. Anything else would have been
much harder for them to justify

*You never told me that," Taehyung reminds
him. "You never gave me a reason to believe
that you would listen to anything Hoseok had to
say." Because every single stolen moment was a
little pearl Jimin kept to himself, in the secret
of his heart. "How was I supposed to guess?"

And it makes sense, it does, but, "You never told
me about Seokjin, either. I had no way to know
you would understand how I felt." And no space
to see that another way was possible, but that
isn't on Taehyung.

I was inspired by the Swim MV, so here's a little #WIPWednesday snippet (no warnings apply, eventual OT7, and yes, I'm once again giving you absolutely no context):

Once they're back aboard, Yoongi takes only one look
at the siren, now half-asleep in Jungkook's arms, and,
being Yoongi, he doesn't ask any questions, merely
saying, "Let's put him in the sick bay for now." It's the
one room that is almost as big as Namjoon's captain
quarters; it gets plenty of sun and the windows can be
opened to let in the ocean air. It's perfect

And even though technically, the siren is their prisoner,
he is SO weak that nobody objects. Namjoon only
warns, "Siren charm on, hyung."

"Aish, really?" Yoongi takes one longer look at the
siren before adding, "-You should come too,
Hoseok-ah. Your knowledge would be most helpful."
And, before Namjoon can warn him again, "Yes, yes,
you know I always wear mine." As he speaks, Yoongi
pulls at the chain around his neck, showing off the
siren charm that he, indeed, never takes off because it's
a family heirloom.

Namjoon smartly snaps his mouth shut, but as
Jungkook follows Yoongi towards the sick bay, he
stops Hoseok with a hand on his shoulder. "Report
back to me later, all right?"

Hoseok simply nods. He understands why Namjoon is
asking him, but he has a feeling that what will need to
be said will be easier for Namjoon to take if it comes
from Yoongi. Hoseok's lack of regard for human
morality has led to quite a few conflicts between him
and Namjoon since he joined the crew.

As he walks off, he can hear Jungkook ask, gently,
"What's your name?"

And the siren answering, in a voice that's more of a
croak, like speaking isn't something he does often,
"Jimin."

After a small detour to the crew's quarters to grab his
charm, Hoseok finally makes his way to the sick bay,
where he finds Jungkook already gone and Jimin
sleeping soundly.

He accepts the tea Yoongi offers him, joining him at
their usual table before asking, "How the hell did you
manage to get rid of Jungkook?" After he was the only
one who managed to resist the lure of the siren's song,
Hoseok was expecting Jungkook to feel a lot more
protective of Jimin.

"Seokjin-hyung convinced him that fresh fish was the
best possible meal for a siren. So now, they're fishing."

One look out the window confirms what Yoongi is
saying. Still, Hoseok frowns. "Sirens aren't predators,
hyung." In fact, they have so much respect for the
other creatures of the ocean that, even in their human
form, most of them barely eat any fish. "I thought you
knew that.'

"Oh, I do." Yoongi's smile turns a little wicked. But
Jungkook doesn't."

A little #wipwednesday for another of my @btsforcedcarefest.borasky.social fics. Namgi, omegaverse, can't give more details without giving away the prompt. Enjoy!

Namjoon tries, again, very carefully, to free himself
undoing Yoongi's grip one finger at a time. Of course,
as soon as he thinks that Yoongi will let him go, that he
will at least manage to stand again, take a few steps
back and let Yoongi breathe and clear his mind, the
omega lashes out.

Hands grabbing blindly for his neck, pulling him
closer, closer, and Namjoon knows he could free
himself easily, a good scruff all it would take. Yoongi
is so sensitive to everything that he knows it would
work.

But it's been drilled into him that good alphas don't
abuse their power. That just because he can doesn't
mean he should. Even though, in this particular case,
everyone would agree he had no other choice.

Still, he can't bring himself to do it. Yoongi chose to
trust him, even though he clearly had no idea what he
was agreeing to-- how is that possible, since Yoongi
seems so close to him in age, Namjoon is sure he
doesn't want to know. Scruffing him, putting him
entirely under Namjoon's control without even a
warning would be breaking that trust.

Which is how he finds himself pulled onto the couch
and arranged as if he was a blanket or a pillow. He's
aware, deep down, that Yoongi doesn't realize what
he's doing; it shows in how uncontrolled his
movements are, in his glassy eyes, passing over
Namjoon without seeing him. Trying to reason with
him won't work; most likely, he won't hear anything
Namjoon says, or if he does, he won't manage to
understand him in his state.

All Namjoon needs is to be able to pull away for a
minute. Just long enough for Yoongi to shake himself
out of it.

But of course, it doesn't happen. Instead, once Yoongi
finally has Namjoon where he wants him, Namjoon
finds himself with a lapful of omega straddling him,
burying his face in Namjoon's neck in greedy gulps.

Yoongi's desperation is enough to bring tears to
Namjoon's eyes, and he can't help the gentle hand he
rests on the back of Yoongi's head, still steering clear
of his nape. How long has it been since the omega
truly got what he needed?

He thinks, again, that he needs to pull himself away. At
that very moment, the omega starts purring. A cute
little purr, regular and so loud that Namjoon can feel
the vibrations through his whole body.

<em>Fuck.</em> What has this strange omega gone
through to lose himself to his instincts so easily?

Namjoon finally admits that he won't manage to free
himself and untangles the omega just enough that he
can reach for his phone. A soft, unhappy sound
escapes him, but he starts purring again as soon as
Namjoon stops moving

"Hyung? I need help."

A little #wipwednesday for one of my @btsforcedcarefest.borasky.social fics. JM/rapline, omegaverse, alpha/alpha. No other warning apply, this is just a tiny bit of setup.

The smile he gets is full of warmth, but again, there's
that strange gleam in Hoseok's eyes. "Remember when
I said I might have a solution for you?" He wait until
Jimin nods. "Me and my partners have an empty
bedroom. It's yours if you want it."

For a moment, Jimin can't find anything to say.

"We live close enough that it would make the commute
a lot easier, and most of the time, either me or
Namjoon can give you a lift.' Because they both work
at the company. "This way, you won't be
disadvantaged compared to the other trainees, and
since Namjoon's brother lives in our building and
always keeps our fridge full, you'll have homemade
meals on top of that."

It all sound so good, but, "You know I can't pay any
kind of rent, right?" Dancers' wages take into
consideration the fact that the company is offering food
and board; it will be at least a few years before Jimin
makes enough money to cover that kind of expenses.

"I was in the exact same situation, remember? I know
that."

Jimin bites his lip. Part of him want to agree without
asking any questions, but he knows it's not possible
that such a generous offer comes without strings
attached.

"Why would you do that?"

Hoseok tilts his head, the weight of his assessing gaze
heavy on Jimin's face. "For the same reason I offered
to coach you: because you're very talented, you work
hard, and I want to see what you can do if you*re given
the chance."

Jimin lets out a soft snort. "I don't believe you." He
blinks at the sudden hurt on Hoseok's face. "I mean, I
do, but... I know you think I'm a country bumpkin, but
I'm not completely naive. I think you're telling the
truth, I just don't believe it's your only reason.
Especially not with your partners involved."

While Jimin has only met Yoongi in passing, since he
works for a different company, it's been enough to
make him wonder how the hell things work between
the three of them. An all-alpha triad, with all of them
on the more dominant side... it <em>shouldn't</em>
work.

Again, Hoseok gives one of those strange smiles,
"What do you want me to say?"

"I want to know what I'm getting into."

Another strange look, almost like he's proud of Jimin
for standing his ground. "We think you might be what
we were looking for."

"Which is?"

"A submissive partner."

It's a good thing that Jimin learned, a long time ago,
not to get hurt by others' assumptions about him. A
good thing that he long stopped feeling any kind of
insult every time someone took one look at him and
thought he was an omega. Still, he wasn't expecting
that from Hoseok. "I'm not submissive."

"Not in the instinctual way an omega is, true. But
you're coachable." That is, in fact, one of the reason
Hoseok offered to take Jimin under his wing, early into
the audition process. "And once I noticed, I couldn't
keep that to myself."

It’s a promise neither of them can keep, not with the way their lives keep pulling them apart, but here and now, Jungkook believes him. Because he knows Seokjin means every word, no matter how Jungkook’s brain gremlins sometimes try to convince him of the contrary.

He’s heard those words from Seokjin before, and he knows Seokjin will keep on repeating them, as often as needed until Jungkook truly believes them. And if he never does, no matter how hard he tries, Seokjin will keep on reminding him. He promised so, a few years ago, when Jungkook's bad days turned into bad weeks.

I had the hardest time finding something that wouldn't spoil the whole story, but here's a tiny #wipwednesday snippet of the namgimin fic I'm writing for @subgenderfest.bsky.social

One sentence is all Jimin needs for his stomach
to once again twist itself into knots. "Like I said,
I'm not really hungry.

He can't miss the look they exchange nor the
nod Yoongi gives before Namjoon steps closer
"You will eat at least a few bites."

Jimin shivers once he understands that it isn't a
question, nor a suggestion: it's a command. A
moment passes, like a hesitation, before
Namjoon rests a firm hand on the back of
Jimin's neck. Not quite a scruff, but
considering the ease with which Namjoon's
fingers find the right pressure points, it could
quickly turn into one.

Jimin can't bring himself to look away, even
when he hears Yoongi moving closer. He rests a
hand low on Jimin's belly, making him swallow
down a whimper at the beta's casual, yet
possessive touch. A gentle reminder that he's
chosen to leave his well-being into their hands,
for the time being, that he will be theirs, for as
long as needed.

Pain that has nothing to do with the fresh bruises that cover him, with the old scars they cover. Pain that’s reminiscent of the point when, as a child, he got his arm broken for disobeying. This time, though, it’s all-encompassing, impossible to ignore, impossible to forget.

When he got hurt as a child, one of the gentlest handlers—the one who was sent away the fastest—taught him breathing exercises. At the time, he thought the exercises themselves were the reason why, suddenly, the pain would recede from his body until he could finally sleep. He never understood that the real reason was her gentle hand in his, that the breathing exercises were only a vehicle so she could take his pain away.

At the time, she promised him that he would learn to do it on his own, that, when he was an adult, everything would become easier.

He knows, now, that she was lying. The other children around him learned to control their capacities; Jimin himself never could. Sometimes, it felt like that control was right out of his reach, and if he could just extend his mind a little farther…

…but every time he tried, he would get yelled at, and punished again, for the same things that got the other children rewarded. If he tried to argue, his handlers would lock him in a special cell, where his only company was his own thoughts, and where his enhanced senses, unable to reach out, would turn on him.

The first few times it happened, he tried to make himself smaller, as he did during the worst punishment, small enough that he couldn’t feel the pain anymore, lost inside himself. But there was no escaping his own mind.

When the handlers released him from that cell, the very first time, he was ready to promise anything they wanted. All it took was a gentle hand on his shoulder, bringing him back to himself so suddenly that it was like the first breath you take after staying too long underwater. He would do better, he promised himself when they wouldn’t listen to him. He would be more obedient.

And he tried, he really tried, to follow all of their rules, even the ones that were impossible to figure out until he was told he was breaking it.

He was still a child when he understood that it was no use. Because he had not been trained from birth, they’d decided they couldn’t get anything worthwhile out of him. No, his only usefulness would be…

After an almost 2-week break, I finally made some progress on the next chapter of LUTM, so here's a little #WIPWednesday snippet. Cw: references to shifter bestiality

Somehow that’s enough for Jimin to finally inch closer to where Yoongi is lying on his side, waiting for him. His eyes are close, and he’s moving so little that Jimin could almost believe him asleep if he didn’t know any better. “What am I supposed to do?”

“Whatever you want.” To Jimin’s incredulous look, Seokjin only offers a shrug. “I didn’t have a plan beyond getting you more comfortable with…” He waves a hand, “This,” for a lack of a better word. “There’s no obligation.”

Again, it strikes Jimin, how much of this rests on his shoulders, how much easier it would have been if he was closer to last night’s state. But he also understands why him knowing exactly what’s happening, what he’s doing, might make this easier on them.

Slowly, he reaches to pet Yoongi’s head again. He has the hardest time not laughing when the wolf leans into the caress, its tongue lolling out of its mouth, his chest vibrating with the closest thing to an omega purr that an alpha can produce.

He really does look like a big puppy, like this. That, along with Seokjin’s reassuring presence at Jimin’s back, gives him the confidence he needs to keep going, slowly moving his hand down to pet the fur on Yoongi’s back.

His fur is so soft, and he is so gentle. Where a real dog would be all over Jimin for more pets, Yoongi is patiently letting him do, as Seokjin said, whatever he wants. Gently exploring, finding the spots that will make Yoongi leans into the caress, the ones that will make him squirm, even though Jimin remains firmly away from Yoongi’s belly and what he knows is hiding there.

It goes like this for a long while, with Jimin slowly petting him and Seokjin keeping a hand on the back of Jimin’s neck, a grounding presence that keeps Jimin firmly in his body. Even though he does his best to avoid thinking about <em>why</em>, exactly, they’re doing this, he can’t help the way his muscles clench, the slowly building pressure in his lower stomach. And he knows, without a doubt, that his eyes must have turned golden from a desire that isn’t quite his.

Still, he probably wouldn’t have dared go any further on his own. So he’s almost glad when Yoongi finally moves, gently catching Jimin’s hand between his teeth. Curiously, it doesn’t feel like a threat, even though the wolf’s fangs in such a vulnerable spot should be anything but comforting.

Seokjin’s breath teases the skin of his neck. “Will you let him touch you?”

A deep breath, another, then Jimin finds enough of his voice to say, “Please, alpha.”

Summary

After being accused of something he didn’t do, Jimin discovers he’s a wolf shifter and is put into the Shifter Reintegration Program. On paper, the program is intended to give ‘unconscious shifters’ in the carceral system a chance at a better, healthier life. In practice, for an unpresented omega like Jimin, it means being handed over to a pack who wants to bitch him.

No matter what the program entails, the Bangtan pack wants a new packmate, not a slave. And after running his whole life, Jimin might just find somewhere to call home. That is if he can bring himself to trust them.
