Modifying actions to focus on the individual, a panel of
30 experts convened by Netflix (after the release of
Don't Look Up, which effectively communicated the
risks of climate inaction but did not offer constructive
ideas of what people could do), recommends:
1. start a conversation about why climate change
matters and what people can do. In nearly every country
except Sweden and those adjacent, the majority aren't
talking. [https://Inkd.in/g52CGAP5]
2. join a climate action group to amplify your voice
[https://Inkd.in/gP8CgrMc]
3. consider where you keep your money (bank, credit
cards, retirement, investments) - and use your voice to
advocate for change [https://bank.green/]
4 spark ideas for change at work & school or any other
group you're part of, from a congregation to a sports
team [https://Inkd.in/g2wcdNH3]
5. hold politicians accountable -- at every level. city,
county, state/provincial officials have a lot of power to
make rapid decisions with significant impact, and most
of them under-estimate how concerned their
constituents are about climate change because they
*hear from them so rarely*. [https://Inkd.in/gZu5aXPH]
6. yes, reduce your personal carbon footprint AND make
your actions contagious by talking about them [https://

One of the most frequent questions I'm asked as a
climate scientist is, "what can we do about climate
change?"
...
I don't base my answer on the physical science of the
climate system, but rather social science of how
individuals can most powerfully effect change. I look to
research such as this [https://Inkd.in/g6SU6Cic], which
finds that:
"Drawing on expert elicitation and a review of literature,
we propose these concrete interventions to induce
positive social tipping dynamics and a rapid global
transformation to carbon-neutral societies:
1. removing fossil-fuel subsidies
2. building carbon-neutral cities
3. divesting from assets linked to fossil fuels
4. revealing the moral implications of fossil fuels
5. strengthening climate education + engagement
6. disclosing greenhouse gas emissions information."
Note the strong role for individuals in 3, 4, and 5; and of
course, the only way 1, 2, and 6 will happen is if
individuals also push, advocate for, and demand these
changes at every level of governance and society.

IWW IU 520 (Railroad Workers) PRESENTS:
TROLLEY PROBLEM SOLUTION
(A trolley with railways that fork out into two; on one way there is one person tied down, on the other one there are four people tied down, one person is besides the trolley with their hand on a lever that switches the trolley railway)
Written below the trolley it’s a proposed solution: "Slip the switch" by flipping it while the trolley's front wheels have passed through, but before the back wheels do. This will cause a controlled derailment bringing the trolley to a safe halt.
Thank a rail worker today! In Thought Experiment Land...
(A trolley with railways that fork out into two; on one way there is one person tied down, on the other one there are four people tied down, one person is besides the trolley with their hand on a lever that switches the trolley railway)
Switch person: Oh no, not again! I have to throw this switch to minimize the number of deaths caused by that trolley.
What a horrible dilemma!
Trolley: I can just stop until you clear the tracks if you want.
Switch person: Of course that's what I want!
Trolley: Just so we're clear, that's always been an option. It's just that you guys keep putting people on the track so I thought you were into it.

@bitprophet seems from the dictionary that match is more about before and during occurrence, and game is more about after occurrence? then very plausible people from the u.s. only use “game” because ‘murica.
dictionary definition of match: 1 a contest in which people or teams
compete against each other in a

Groupthink indeed: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupthink mas.to/@carnage4life/11507547175398…
Groupthink (Article)

Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Cohesiveness, or the desire for cohesiveness, in a group may produce a tendency among its members to agree at all costs. This causes the group to minimize conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation.
Groupthink is a construct of social psychology but has an extensive reach and influences literature in the fields of communication studies, political science, management, and organizational theory, as well as important aspects of deviant religious cult behaviour.

When Do Parties Lie?
Misinformation and Radical-Right Populism Across 26 Countries
By Petter Törnberg and Juliana
Chueri

Abstract
The spread of misinformation has emerged as a global concern.
Academic attention has recently shifted to emphasize the role of political elites as drivers of……political elites as drivers of misinformation. Yet, little is known of the relationship between party politics and the spread of misinformation-in part due to a dearth of cross-national empirical data needed for comparative study. This article examines which parties are more likely to spread misinformation, by drawing on a comprehensive database of 32M tweets from parliamentarians in 26 countries, spanning 6 years and several election periods. The dataset is combined with external databases such as Parlgov and V-Dem, linking the spread of misinformation to detailed information about political parties and cabinets, thus enabling a comparative politics approach to misinformation.
Using multilevel analysis with random country intercepts, we find that radical-right populism is the strongest determinant for the propensity to spread misinformation Populism……left-wing populism, and right-wing politics are not linked to the spread of misinformation. These results suggest that political misinformation should be understood as part and parcel of the current wave of radical right populism, and its opposition to liberal democratic institution.
