Yes. There's a definite attitude that "<bad thing> couldn't POSSIBLY happen here! We're the GOOD GUYS!" Anything alarming is dismissed as impossible because "the Constitution will save us!" They have no idea. With a corrupt SCOTUS, constitutionality is meaningless...

Hopefully will be getting a new puppy these days and have a 1½yo big puppy too. Small puppers LOVE eating everything in the garden and I'm finally realising why it's probably a REALLY good idea I never got around to planting weed in the outdoors! Eeyore is outside chasing "storm gifts" right now!

At least 20 of the buildings are in Sunny Isles. That's where all the Russians come to give birth to their anchor babies. It is a very big business there. A couple of Trump-branded buildings where they like to rent that are on the list. He doesn't own them; they are just branded with the Trump name.

I did a graphic novel course (mostly reading them) at my local community college a bit ago. Writing a short graphic novel was a final project option. I was the only one who chose it. It was really hard. I have a new found respect for comic writers. Keeping stuff tight is hard.

The normalization of Trump and his behavior will be his lasting legacy. So many people thought he was unacceptable, but once he won in 2016 and acted as president, people started accepting him and ignoring his words as "just bluster". It's not normal, and we can never pretend that it is.

Season 1 admittedly had a bit of a slow start to me - Dal especially being irritating af at first - but how many trek series *don't* take a bit to find their footing, lol. It really does pick up, hugely by S2 but even before that. Genuinely some of the best modern trek out there.

For me, the answer to "why" is that this example One Billion of the industry being creatively bankrupt. "Make up a *new* show? That sounds like hard work. Hey, let's just dust off that old popular thing!". Do a new show with the same cast and crew in different roles, like Brit comedy often does.

The Thing by John Carpenter is one of the greats, I won't say it's horror at its best, but it's quite entertaining. They don't make them like that anymore. Actually no one makes a really scary horror movie. One that's so scary when you watch it at night, you get and turn all your lights on. Oh well

I think the Station Eleven miniseries might be my favorite piece of art to come out of the pandemic. It’s such a heart achingly beautiful affirmation of the *why* of survival. I love it and recommend it so so so much.
