She highlighted a project to export records from ⁨#OpenText⁩ ⁨#ContentServer⁩ to their digital preservation system (Arkivum) with the help of ⁨#OPF⁩. This tool could be useful to others who need to leave OpenText, and I hope we can further develop this and open it to a wider community! #ipres2026

I arrived in London for a two-day workshop. Not on #digipres, but on nuclear #fusion (and #archiving fusion projects)! I caught a beautiful early spring day and snapped the back of the Albert Memorial while walking in Kensington Gardens. Pretty cool!
A picture of the Albert Memorial taken from Kensington Gardens. In the foreground there are yellow daffodils and purple flowers. To the left there is a tree. It is springtime.

Looking to replace my iPhone 8, and I’m trying to decide whether to get a newer generation of #iPhone or finally switch to a smartphone with #Linux. I’m particularly interested in the #fairphone. Anyone have experiences? Recommendations? Preferred Linux distribution for phones?

#icabarcelona2025 Archivists also need the authority to monitor compliance with retention schedules (and the responsibility to create records). If the archivists cannot enforce this, they may need to quit and/or inform the public

#icabarcelona2025 This doesn’t mean we need to save everything forever. We still need retention schedules. But we need to retain records for at least the length of time that the persons directly affected would reasonably need access to those records.

When searching for it, the AI overview seems to know more about the Open Fixed-layout Document (OFD) format than the search results! I'm guessing this is because the AI version is essentially translating Chinese sources that the search isn't showing me? #digipres

This is what was shared on the file structure:
A presentation slide titled "3.1 File Structure" discusses the "XML+ZIP" technical architecture, highlighting its similarity to OOXML and ODF. It explains that ZIP serves as a container for the entire OFD file, with resource files stored in the zip. Other content is described using XML and compressed with the Deflate algorithm.

It’s wild that Caribbean archival collections held in institutions of the Global North (aka former colonizers) are behind paywalls or only available by paying for paper or digital copies, including for those from the Caribbean. Example: digitized newspapers #icabarcelona2025

It isn’t surprising, but it’s still heartbreaking that so many archives from former colonies were removed from the countries where they were created and/or deliberately destroyed. Few (almost none?) have been restored to the countries that should rightly hold them #icabarcelona2025
