I read 1984 in the 70s, well before it was banned. What are book banners afraid of? That we'll spot trends happening today? In 2025, much of what 1984 says feels current. Our government looks more & more like the one in the book. How much of our true history are we willing to allow to be abolished?

I'm reading for the 2025 Trans Rights Readathon, a call to action to readers & book lovers, in support of Trans Day of Visibility on March 31st. They're calling on us to read & uplift books written by &/or featuring trans, genderqueer, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, & 2Spirit authors & characters.

Still getting used to being on here and continuing to post on the other two big social media sites since that's where most of the store's friends are still. Trying to remember to post here but... I've got the same username on all sites so I'm not too difficult to find. 😁

Today's one more day in what's been a VERY long week. Only 1453 more. As the person behind the store, I'm having a really hard time right now. /1

I've enjoyed reading this little book about book banning and LGBTQ+ representation today. It's SO important, especially now, that everyone be able to see themselves in the books they read. #ReadFreely #UnitedAgainstBookBans #AuthorsAgainstBookBans

Book open to pages depicting children in a school cafeteria. The text on these pages has them asking what's wrong with the penguin book and what's wrong with having two dads after someone says that that's what some people think is wrong with it

Title page for Jacob's Missing Book. A handwritten message reads: For Karen! Tell your Story! It is signed: (a heart drawing) Ian & Sarah

If you are still on IG, post there, too, but I'd love to see #booksky doing this!

Open book in front of a rainbow. Text says: Celebrate your right to #ReadFreely. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at your local independent bookstore, or wherever you read books! Take a picture with a book that brings you joy. Post it with the #ReadFreely hashtag and tag @AuthorsAgainstBookBans to find your fellow book lovers!

In Bishop Budde's Sunday sermon, she appealed to Trump to show mercy and compassion on LGBT and migrant communities. She has since received messages of hate and wishes for her death. Many people want to support her by buying her book. Physical copies are on backorder but, 1/2
