monthly post, various kahs-wan headcanons, lalala

Digital headcanon sheet divided into three sections. First section shows the title, “Kahs-wan HCs, AKA - ARE VULCANS REALLY LETTING THEIR CHILDREN BEEF IT?! (I don’t actually think so…)” Below the title are two panels of me yapping. The first panel is me saying, “So I was thinking about this when I replayed BG3 some time ago, the Selunite trials specifically.” And I’m gesturing to a little picture of Shadowheart. Second panel shows me scratching my head looking at my phone. It continues the previous statement, saying “Then I checked the wiki to make sure I haven’t missed anything…” I’m saying, “Damn, T'pol and T’Pring have both done the kahs-wan? So it’s not male-only anymore…”

Second section, below the label “So here’s my thoughts,” is labeled “During kahs-wan:”. First section of this section shows two Vulcans watching a Vulcan child leaving for their kahs-wan. The caption reads, “Kahs-wan is HEAVILY monitored, by Vulcans whose literal job is to make sure these kids don’t die.” Second section shows Amanda and Sarek. Amanda says, “I’m concerned for Spock, dear…” Sarek says, “He will be alright, Amanda,” though a note points out that he’s worried as FUCK. The caption reads, “Parents can be monitors, but they cannot monitor their own children.” Third section shows little T’Pring having a panic attack, as she apparently does canonically during her kahs-wan??? Caption reads, “Though it’s heavily monitored, children are not coddled - they are still expected to find their own food, clothes, water, and shelter.” Fourth section shows a young Vulcan boy bleeding out, with a hand creeping behind him to nerve pinch him. Caption reads, “Direct intervention only happens in near-death scenarios.” Fifth section shows another young Vulcan carrying greens, thinking, “Hmmm… maybe I should go to a different cave instead…” A Vulcan monitor behind them is sending them telepathic beams. Caption reads, “Indirect intervention usually happens through mental influence - steering a kid away from a La-Matya den, for instance.” Final sections shows Spock, as an adult, angrily yelling, “I ALMOST DIED? FOR NO REASON?!” Caption reads, “Vulcans are not told they are monitored until they are older, so they don’t tell other children. Due to Spock’s estrangement from his parents, he was told much later.”

Third section is labeled, “Post kahs-wan:”. There’s no mini sections like the previous image - main pictures are full bodies of 7 y/o Stonn and T’Pring, just after their kahs-wans, showing off their post-trial tattoos. Above them is a scan from a comic of Spock’s “identi-fax,” which lists some of his notable scars, most notably mentioning a “serpentine design inside of right biceps (Vulcan kahs-wan (ritual) mark).” Notes are all around the two - starting at the top left, it says, “Boys get tatted on their right arm.” ; “Stonn did not complete his tattoo due to pain. It is okay to back out - the test is already done - but the tattoo will never be completed. Thus is tradition.” ; a little doodle in between the two of a young non-binary Vulcan, with serpentine tattoos on both arms. “GN option: half&half.” ; top right, “Girls get tatted on their left arm.” ; “Can opt for either traditional incision method or modern method. T’Pring and Spock both went with incision. (Both feel they have something to prove…).” Then on the bottom corner there’s a doodle of me making a peace sign, saying, “Anyway that’s all, peace.”

The fourth panel shows Pike and Spock. Pike is petting the top of Spock’s head, while Spock glares at his father. Pike says, “Spock’s a wonderful science officer! Probably the best in the fleet! You must be proud of him, I know I am.”

Hey y'all, if you recognize my username, I posted TOS Trek art mostly. Bluesky seems to be putting out age verification ahead of time due to a law being passed in Texas. Which is fucked. I decided to check back in to see if it's been repealed, which I haven't gotten anything so far, so.
