Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Might be a bit controversial here as I know they’re well liked but I always thought the Ioniq 5 looked like someone took a massive flat spade to the side of it. 110
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 07/10/2026It’s definitely growing on me (though not what I’d choose if I was in the position to spend that much on a car). Hope it does well and it’ll be interesting to see what other models are in the pipeline. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Back from another great #Rustival. A few of my favourites here. 449 miles done. Can’t moan at the economy from my Ioniq. 1130
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Why do all 90s/early 00s interiors suddenly look very appealing? 010
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Lovely car. My first car was a Metro 1.0 which wasn’t great (turned out to be a cut and shut) but still have a soft spot for them. Still have vague memories of the Metro launch being on the news and it being a big deal at the time. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Agree with the bonging. I’ve had a couple of Hyundai courtesy cars and they’re the same - and not a quick job to switch it all off. Not sure how good they are but MG IM6? If anything like a friend’s MG HS, it’s easy to switch the bonging off. And possibility of 750bhp too. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 18/09/2026What about a Kia EV5? A little smaller than the EX60 but similar boot size. Decent range and just looked at the leases - can get a GT Line, 3y, 10k 12m up front for £421/m. Or Air spec for £400. Was going to suggest the EV9 or Ioniq 9 but then saw the lease prices. 101
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 16/09/2026…doing them next year) and probably an extra £5k to change my car to an EV with a range that would only be mildly annoying. So not really viable for me. I can see it working for a lot of people who mostly use it to commute/school runs and are swapping from one lease to another though. 110
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Currently in a hybrid that’s paid for. Worked out that if I can charge at home as much as I possibly can, for the mileage I do (about 19k a year) I’d save about £80/m in fuel costs. Which sounds good but I’d have to shell out for a home charger (and channel for the path when the council starts… 110
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Used to walk past one on the way home from school in late 80s/early 90s. Remember thinking it looked cool at the time (not sure why now - probably just because it was unusual). If I remember right, the same house (or might have been a neighbour) also had an Opel Monza parked outside. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Loved that as an 9-ish year old. Between that, Knight Rider, Street Hawk, Airwolf, The A-Team and Dukes of Hazzard, there was some fantastic TV shows back then. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 08/09/2026At a quick glance, I thought it was a 2 door early 90s Cavalier! 020
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 02/09/2026I’m hopeful that it will be good. Having watched a couple of interviews with them, they seem to be a good mix and and the relationship between them has been prioritised. Plus, they’re all car guys. However, I suspect you’re right about the comments - regardless of how good it is. 010
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 09/08/2026Inspired by TV and film (including some Smokey and the Bandit airbrushing) 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 09/08/2026Some proper classics (including a lovely pair of Bristols) 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 09/08/2026At the North Devon Festival of Transport in Bideford today. Great selection of cars on offer (this might take a few posts… Some odd ones to begin with 421
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 22/07/2026Its steering wheel is also reminiscent of a later SD1’s. 181
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 11/07/2026I was pleasantly surprised by a Premier Inn last night in Port Talbot. Website said no air con so was expecting to have a rather uncomfortable night. Switched the fan on and turns out the annexe building does have air con - my room was like a fridge all night (didn’t switch off at midnight either). 020
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 09/07/2026My Dad had one in about ‘83-‘85. Turquoise with white roof. Had the wheel mounted on the front and he made his own ‘dashboard’ from vinyl covered hardboard and half a plastic container for a rudimentary glovebox. Can just about be seen in the top of this photo of me and my brother. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 08/07/2026I’ve seen one near me a few times (though I have a feeling it might be a G80). It’s in a very bright (metallic if I remember right) yellow. Though a quick google search suggests it wasn’t sold in yellow so I can only assume it’s been wrapped. Looks good though. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 07/07/2026Foreign to the car (not me). My ‘99 Mustang in England (back in 2010). 021
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 02/07/2026Just seen a 1989 Suzuki Alto appear for sale on a local Facebook page. Less than 9k miles! Looks like an excellent candidate for FOTU. (Did try to post a link but it didn’t appear to work) #weirdcarbs 151
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 25/06/2026Was 23C here when I woke up at 6.30. Didn’t bother with my morning walk as it wouldn’t have been pleasant. Should cool down here tomorrow though. 010
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 24/06/2026Had a Hyundai loan car while mine was in for service. That suggested the speed limit changed 4/5 times in a 1/4 mile stretch. Should have gone 30 to 50 at the end. It went something like 30/40/60/30/50. And who is paying to update the data when speed limits change - especially as cars get older? 010
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Yeah, don’t do what I did once and put it in the rear footwell believing it wouldn’t fall over. Noticed the sloshing fluid noises first then the sickly smell. Had to get the full carpet set replaced but there was still a faint smell after. 110

Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 28/05/2026A bit of a boring one considering a few of the cars I’ve owned but it would be my Focus 2.0 Ghia I had new (with a big discount thanks to my Dad working at Jag). Such a nice car to drive. 130
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 25/05/2026Nissan 100NX spotted, slowly being covered by the bushes (and eaten by rust). #weirdcarbs 020
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 22/05/2026Weirdly, there was a Breadvan along my walk this morning! Always liked the styling of these. 272
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 21/05/2026Polo Saloon spotted on my walk this morning. Can’t remember the last time I saw one. I think it’s been off the road a while. Plus bonus algal 107 in the foreground. #weirdcarbs 270
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 13/05/2026Or the Typo 1, referring to that random capital G in the new logo. 030
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 27/04/2026Had this ESi back in ‘99/2000. It was lovely to drive (once the drains under the rear window had been cleared, stopping the sloshing noises when cornering). Unfortunately, a spinning Maestro ripped a hole in the drivers door and bounced off the rear wheel. Repaired but wasn’t quite right after. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 24/04/2026Had a new 2.0 Ghia in 2000 - it was a lovely car. I thought the Jag S-type had been influenced by the Focus dash when it first came out. 010
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 20/04/2026As an Ioniq (hybrid) owner, I’m not keen on that (not that the original Ioniq was a looker) but wonder if the non N-line version will be better. 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 14/04/2026I get what you mean - though if I had to guess what the image of the Juke is, I would have said the next Toyota C-HR (think it’s that black C-pillar)! 000
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 10/04/2026Had the same on a couple of Hyundai courtesy cars. At one point, the speed limit change bing went off about 4 times in the space of 200m and none of the speed limits it suggested were correct. Renault/Dacia’s one button to switch everything to your preference is how it should be done. 020
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 01/04/2026My Dad had a light blue T reg one in about ‘84/5. Never camped in it but had a few picnics. Remember it being ‘maxed’ on the way to South Wales on holiday - an indicated 70mph downhill near Ross on Wye! If I remember right, it was 35bhp from the 903cc engine. Still good fun though. 010
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 24/03/2026Does look quite like a Mondeo but I’m going with the X-Type too. 001
Steve Archer @archer24.bsky.social · 18/03/2026Not young but I don’t mind the styling. Personally, I’d like some tyres on it and normal door handles but otherwise a big improvement over what they’ve produced for a few years now. However, the interior would completely put me off due to lack of buttons. 010
