That's a more abstract brain in a jar. Even if you're on some unknown ethereal plane you 'are' in some sense. Even if you're unaware of being a fragment of a larger consciousness you still ARE. I imagine that to be a very strong factor as well. I like to think I'm consciously incompetent - I know written communication is different and it's better to be cautious. But if someone is unconsciously incompetent it won't occur to them that they might be missing something

To address your actual, serious point: I might not have seen it as much but I think I do know what you mean. At a guess, 1: everyone is exhausted and assuming bad intent, sometimes to the point of non sequitur and 2: bots that are good enough to reach the uncanny valley but not escape it

I wondered about that too but I think of 'sandbox' as being a world you can manipulate in non-scripted ways. For example Minecraft but not Saints Row. Doesn't mean I'm right, I'll have to revisit that idea

That's the way I was leaning. The original Control is listed as open world on Steam and that's in a building. I think. I got softlocked and never finished it. But interesting that I've had different opinions on the matter
