Hogbacks seem to have been a late C9th Anglo-Scandinavian innovation, likely high-status Scandinavian settlers’ interpretation of Anglo-Saxon Christian funerary sculpture.

Another completed pair of viking age P42 oval brooches. Being able to make artefacts makes a huge difference to how you understand them from an academic perspective. It prevents poor interpretations as well as inaccurate writing regarding how things are made; prevalent within archaeology #vikings

This lets you see really nicely where Govan Old sits in relation to the new bridge across the Clyde (has 'Pointy bridge' stuck?) and the Riverside museum. You can also see where it is in relation to the University - you can see the tower of the main building at the very top, almost dead centre.
