Bronze statue of Sir Winston Churchill in Parliament Square, London, which was spray-painted with red pro-Palestine graffiti on February 27, 2026. The individual who defaced the monument, Caspar San Giorgi (Olax Outis), was recently found not guilty of criminal damage by a jury in September 2026.

Historic photograph shows overjoyed Allied POWs after being liberated at the Hanowa POW Camp number six in Honshu, Japan - September 1945. An estimated 32000 to 36000 Allied POWs were being held in Japan when the surrender was signed. Nearly 3,500 had died before the war ended. #archaeohistories

Excavations at Pompeii in circa 1913. This is "Thermopolium of Asellina," an ancient snack bar that sold hot and cold ready-to-eat food. It is on Via dell’Abbondanza. As you can see, amphorae on left are in situ and partly excavated, left as they were when Vesuvius erupted and buried city in AD 79.

This strange-looking armored car was the Škoda PA-II, nicknamed the “Želva” (“Turtle”) because of its rounded armor. Developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s, it had an unusually streamlined body and could be driven in either direction, with drivers positioned at opposite ends. #archaeohistories
