A statement regarding the release of Arcaea 7.0.

Dear Arcaea Players,
Arcaea Version 7.0 was not able to be released in an acceptable manner.
We were unable to sufficiently anticipate what was necessary from us for this release which led to a negative experience for many of our players. Sincerely and deeply, we apologize for our unpreparedness
We would like to expound on the issues of 7.0's release:
• An unexpected amount of traffic, beyond the expectations of past Main Story releases, resulted in a severe capacity issue. This issue was not possible to resolve merely by increasing server hardware capacity.
For technical clarification, we typically scale up our servers in response to anticipated increased traffic,. However, due to the way our back-end API servers were configured, scaling in fact created more connections than the game database could handle. The configuration for this is a combination of multiple parameters among different services and the database itself, so finding where exactly the problem lies here took more time than expected.
Server team members worked overnight since Wednesday (8/26) on migration of Potential to the new system, which required notable processing of a large amount of play data. This resulted in sub-optimal problem solving capability on the day of release. . Attempts to increase hardware capacity and changes to load balancing (that is: the spread of user logins across multiple servers) took very long to redeploy and test, resulting in the repeated up and down pattern in the game With these many issues at play, and the fact that most of the contents of 7.0 are playable offline due to Arcaea's offline support, some players were able to log in to Arcaea and play through those contents apart from the majority during the brief windows of up-time.
As the team has put in their everything over the past months into the release of 7.0, we do not have a suitable compensation prepared for these failings, nor do we believe that this apology alone is enough to remedy any loss in player trust, …

In v7.0, significant changes are made to Potential, including the removal of Top Rated Recent Plays. Potential can no longer be lost due to song play, allowing for songs to be challenged without a decrease. To encourage diversity of songs, Potential is now based on the best 50 songs instead of 30.
