my silent hill hot take is that 4 is incredible. i like it way more than 1 + 3. i actually hope bloober remakes it someday and fixes a lot of the mechanical jank so more people can appreciate 4's narrative and vibes and henryyy

if i want to be even more technical about the classes though, i /do/ have a headcanon that haurch can use basic healing magic but aym can't heal for shit. so if either of them got stuck as the healer in a party, well, haurch's party would explode in <lv60 content and aym's party couldn't do sastasha

010

arcade 🌊🩹 @arcademyth.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

if they're only switching classes they're fine. PLD to PLD to PLD. it's all fine. if they're switching weapons and stats though? ash dies because he can't swing a real sword and haurch and aym instantly explode from having their MP bars hit 600% #wolqotd

after dreaming about it for months, i've finally hashed out all the ash and ash-adjacent designs that have been important in his story so far !! #arc.png #ffxiv

ASH: that's him, that's the warrior of light!

BPM: sorry, the prize for becoming eternal grand champion of the arcadion is never getting to fight again? no no no, that won't work. ash loves the arcadion far too much to leave it. with the help of the other fighters, he's crafted an alter ego so he can work his way through the ranks all over again: the fresh-faced pop-punk prince, BPM. short for "beats per minute," the name alludes to his highly musical performances in the ring, and also, you know, beating people up. the scythe he uses features aetherial dampeners to nerf his combat abilities, but he's so awkward at trying to swing a physical weapon around that he hasn't actually had to turn that feature on yet.

AZEM / ACHILLES: ash's ancient counterpart. like ash, love and violence are written into achilles' soul; unlike ash, achilles makes no efforts to hide his affinity for dealing death. the ends will always justify the means. luckily for the people around him, he is a shepherd the way a herding dog in a wolf collar is. his focus—his dedication—is protecting the people and the places he cares for. he may come home covered in blood, but would you rather let the wolves eat the herd? of course not. his comfort with gore is also a large part of what makes him a shockingly good healer.

ACHILLES TRANSFORMED: we're going all in on the dog metaphors here. achilles spends a notable amount of time in his transformed state. his size and build make travel much faster and easier, and there are obvious combat benefits to having giant sharp teeth. his fur is surprisingly soft; you can pet the dog! go on, pet the dog :) you can trust the dog :) the dog will not bite :)

EDEN'S VERSE: REFULGENCE: ash's soul has seams like kintsugi where his DRK trauma and joining with ardbert have left their marks. ryne's little sundering temper tantrum during E8 manages to split ash apart at those seams. for several horrifying minutes, he's split into four: him, esteem, myste, and ardbert. as ash scrambles to put himself back together again, his anger at hydaelyn and the surplus of aether around him coalesce into one very pissed off warrior of darkness. this form is essentially ash channeling a large egi of himself, which he then proceeds to use to beat the shit out of shiva!ryne. this form has never appeared again since that fight, but it was an important stepping stone to something much bigger.

THE FINAL DAY: aether and dynamis—ash had both in abundance at his disposal when facing the endsinger. with the prayers of the scions empowering him, he summoned and channeled a proper primal of himself—the warrior of light. he is pretty much just ash but much bigger. this is also the form in which he fought zenos at the edge of the universe, because there was really a missed opportunity to NOT have zenos and the WoL duking it out primal vs primal—

SCALE REFERENCE: ash is 6'4" / 194cm. i am not doing the math on the rest of them i'm sorry

healer: SGE >>> AST = WHM >>>>>> SCH tank: PLD > DRK = WAR > GNB melee: RPR >>> DRG = VPR > MNK > SAM > NIN ranged: MCH > BRD > DNC caster: BLM = SMN > RDM = PCT based purely on my enjoyment / comfort playing each job, if i were ranking on aesthetics / lore it'd be very different

010

arcade 🌊🩹 @arcademyth.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

i am TORN on if i want to stick with SGE or swap to RPR. on one hand, healer queue privilege and avoiding my melee anxiety. on the other hand, poster job and lore implications for my boy... evolved mode news might genuinely be my deciding factor

You...you are unharmed? F-Forgive me... I could not bear the thought of...of...

Oh, do not look at me so.

A smile better suits a hero...

JAPANESE (translated w/ google lens)

So... You're safe... I can't afford to lose you...

A sad face doesn't suit a hero...

Heheh... As I thought, your smile is... really nice...

GERMAN (translated w/ google lens)

Strange... We're finally so close, and yet I can hardly feel you...

Don't be sad...

That doesn't suit you... my hero...

FRENCH (translated w/ google lens)

You're okay... That's good... I wouldn't want anyone to hurt you...

Heroes are not allowed to be sad...

But you have such a beautiful smile... Try not to forget... mine...

ash's go-to spot is the last vigil; it's perfect for people-watching during the day and stargazing at night. sometimes it's a little Too easy to find him there, though, since it's, y'know. right out in the open. if he needs more privacy, he'll go hide in one of his husbands' offices instead #wolqotd

ash is a 10 unless he sees someone he likes in the direction he's heading. he's got a light step, he knows how to DRG jump and NIN hide for unconventional entrances and exits, but he will also shouting-flying-jump-hug-tackle certain people which makes him a bit hard to miss #wolqotd

ash loooves aetheryte travel, it's super convenient for him because having uncapped aether is like, his whole thing, so he can teleport way more often than the average person. he doesn't even have a mount; he just teleports to the nearest aetheryte and walks the rest of the way #wolqotd
