And finally, the cows beat the Canada geese in the autumn competition better known as 'who can eat all the grass quickest? The cows won despite being heavily outnumbered 3:1. A stubby rainbow briefly appeared over the farm and the railway line to celebrate the bovine victory.
After beating the Canada geese in the who can eat all the grass competition, the cows declared a massive victory for animals of the bovine kind (kined, geddit?)

AI image fail. I tried to generate an image of me racing my BSA Victor scrambler back in 1969. I used the prompt - rider wearing a pudding basin helmet... 🤣

Beeston Castle crag in Cheshire, reimagined as it might have looked in the Early Bronze Age period circa 4,500 years ago. No stone ramparts. The surrounding ritual landscape of wood pasture still intact with springs, some containing votive offerings, have possibly been in use for centuries.

The ashes of this still smouldering bonfire warmed the surrounding air on what was quite a chill day for August. The pungent smell of the lingering wood smoke brought back childhood memories of watching my father burning garden rubbish on autumn evenings. Back end beckons. The year is turning again.

Time slips and warps in the weft of time feature in many of my favourite works of fiction. I created these illustrations to accompany one of my own stories. They show the Wolf Woman Shaman who lived and practiced her magic on Berth Hill in the Iron Age, about 2,500 years ago.
