AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I mean by that logic, every arcade gamer hyping up a game they experienced through a re-release or pirated and then practiced using a stage select should also be viewed equally dubiously. 000
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 01/10/2026This feels like what happens when replayability gets discounted to being a minor concern. And sadly it feels predominant from every angle; the devs, the critics and the players. When the whole of the industry incentivizes moving to the new and shiny, they can't imagine going back to something older. 010
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Shout out to the Criterion Channel for updating their app with a new layout and unlike every other app getting a face-lift, this one actually made it easier to navigate and faster. Though admittedly this is because the old one wasn't exactly the best but hey, a win is a win. 000
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 28/09/2026A counterpoint would be that Ace Combat 7's pre-order bonus on PS4 was a digital download for Ace Combat 5 and that still hasn't been made available as a stand alone purchase. 001

AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Beat Sin & Punishment 2. Yeah this is the best action game I've ever played and a new 10 for me. Even without beating the final boss on Hard (and honestly I might never be able to do it cause fucking christ it's demented) this is still a masterpiece in my eyes. 100
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Got all the way through to the final boss in Sin & Punishment 2 on Hard and yeah I have throw in the towel. This shit is fucking impossible. Will have to restart on Medium now to actually finish the game. And yet it's so mindblowingly good that I'm barely irked by this. 000
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Lonesome (1928) Cinema was made for two reasons; to watch crowds scuttle about and to observe the faces of people falling in love. This manages to do both simultaneously so of course it's a masterpiece. 100
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 20/09/2026John, are you ever gonna bite the bullet and do a top 10/top 20 favorite games of all time video? Long time viewers can guess a lot of the obvious picks (FF6, Sonic 3, RE4, Super Metroid) but it'd be cool to see it put down in an order of preference. 021
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 19/09/2026The way you phrased this made me think he was putting the can on floor so that he can aim his piss into it (I read that "watch this" as him getting ready to show off). Imagine my disappointment when the actual story is more believable/less gross. 110
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Well, the early buzz coming out of Venice Film Festival and now TIFF indicates that Lee Chang Dong's new film, Possible Love, is another home run from him. Hopefully this isn't just festival hype getting to critics heads but considering Lee's output I'd imagine it isn't. The master is back baybee. 000

AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I guess one explanation would be that they could think that japanese puppetry would be too obscure a reference point for an international audience. They did point to Shinto Shrine Gates as inspiration for Star Fox Zero but that was back in 2015 so maybe they've changed tactics since. 110
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 12/09/2026This being your first post here in a century confused me for a sec, made me go "wait I don't follow anyone who's amped for GTA, who the hell is this?". 111
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Thinking about Pauline Kael's quote on experimental cinema ("a creature of publicity and mutual congratulations on artistry") and how it basically fits the circle jerk that is the arcade gaming community. 010
AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I gotta be honest, even though the target of all these FOCUS M complaints are always Western games, the first one that comes to mind personally is Persona 5. 000

AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Also the definition of "blank checks" is so loose. Dreyer's JOAN OF ARC was one of the most expensive films for its time. AranPrime @aranprime.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Haven't seen the footage but this feels closer to Cleopatra, where an entire studios existence hanged on whether it was a success and the "behind the scenes" drama only exasperated the anticipation. 141
