he/him I wanna make art. I wanna play guitar. I wanna write fun software. Too many things I want to do, not enough time to get good at any of it. I also really like simracing. Punk music is best music. Linux fanatic.

Agreed. Web browsers should be simple tools with as little unnecessary functionality as possible. I do not want to waste Earth's resources, at the rate AI datacenters do, just by browsing the web.

Considering where Verstappen ended up (although his car had its own problems), I think Yuki did really well. The difference was a lot more painful at Suzuka.

Talking to people only on here. The other site sometimes on read-only mode just because there are many artists that I used to follow there. Many of them upload in different places as well so it's becoming less and less frequent.

Yeah. I know what the target audience for shonen is, but it is annoying to see these authors create genuinely fun worlds, write interesting storylines and cool characters just to use them for dick jokes. I think the manga feels better because you can kind of choose to filter it out while reading.

You know what? I am actually thankful for it in a weird way. Social media should be open source, and if Musk didn't ruin Twitter, not many people would care about Bluesky or Mastodon. Platforms that shape public opinion should not be proprietary and controlled by a single entity. Too much power.

I'm excited to see what you can come up with for your channel. LTT became so big that there is an expectation of what videos have to be there, but in your case you can just tinker around with cool tech and that would produce some really fun content already. Sharing your passion is good content too!

I think it might just be them trying to manage the hype, because I think it has really grown past anything realistic and they know it will likely blow up in their face the moment they go to Australia and don't get a podium at least. In the age of social media this can't be overlooked.

For sure, some technology is really awesome and helpful, and actually makes it easier to help people in need. But a lot of the resources go to pretty useless things like a new iPhone model every single year or another new car that most people won't be able to afford.

New technology is cool and all, but in a world where homelessness is still a massive issue and wealth inequality is only growing, I think we could afford to shift the focus from new technologies to fixing these fundamental issues. But who am I kidding, no government will ever allow this.

The sad part is that Americans didn't in fact vote for cheaper groceries. He told them exactly what he's gonna do and he is doing it. I blame mainstream billionaire-controlled social media that failed to inform less politically aware people of who he really is.

Great song. Punks all over the world have been talking about this for decades, yet the rich are still getting richer. We need punk now more than ever. Thanks for being another voice that keeps us from forgetting about those who want to control us.

The band is still playing to this day. In 2023 they celebrated their 45th anniversary. Only the frontman, Eugeniusz "Siczka" Olejarczyk remains from the original squad, but for many he is the soul of KSU. Link to the full video: youtu.be/1zZ1d0Tc5n4

KSU are one of the pioneers of punk music in Poland. The band started playing in the late 70's mostly covering known songs from the west, but later started producing their own material. KSU - 1944 (1989, live) #punk #punkrock #polishpunk #polskipunk #KSU

The vocalist/guitarist of the band, Tomasz "Siwy" Wojnar, sadly passed away in 2018. He was known for introducing more complexity in his guitar beyond the usual few punk power chords. It was a very refreshing sound for the polish audience at the time. Link to the full video. youtu.be/rsPXPXU5vTA

Defekt Muzgó is another amazing punk band from Poland that emerged back in the 80's. The name translates to "Brain Defect" with the polish word for brain intentionally misspelled. RIP Siwy 1965-2018 Defekt Muzgó - Defekt Muzgó (1992, live) #punk #punkrock #polishpunk #polskipunk #defektmuzgó

The title "Budujesz faszyzm przez nietolerancję" translates to "You're building fascism through intolerance". The song originally released in 1988, but due to censorship the full lyrics couldn't be used. The upload above is a 1997 re-recorded version with full intended lyrics.

I want to bring attention to some Polish punk music that I love. I will be posting short videos of bands playing in the 80's, 90's and beyond. There is no particular order to this, I'm just gonna post whatever I feel like. I feel like the english speaking world misses out a lot, I hope you enjoy.

Time to close out 2024. If you HOPE 2025 is going to be a good year - stop. Instead take action. Help your local communities. Organize. Empower and inspire people. The revolution won't come in 2025, but we can do our best to take even a little bit of power from those who want us to remain powerless.

Makes sense, I agree. It's fun when you have control but when a device requires an online account or obligatory internet access to work even for the most basic purposes, I don't want it.

Obviously 1, Less. It can be a good tool in certain cases, but pushing it everywhere because it's a fad is very untasteful in my opinion. That's why I stick with open source. If I don't like something, I can fork it and get rid of it. And many projects include build flags to add or remove features.

IoT can be neat if you keep it on your local network only and use things that are actually useful, not things that are advertised. If you self-host services they operate with, they are under your control.

Would a proper guitar shop do a better job? 100%. But I would still be in the dark, now I did my setup once and I can build from there. I can test out how much action I like to play with. I will get better at this, if it's at a cost of a mediocre setup at first, I'm willing to do that.

Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 21/12/2024
I considered giving my guitar to a guitar shop to get my strings replaced for the first time, but more importantly I wanted it set up properly. But I decided to do it myself to learn how. Changed my strings. Adjusted neck relief. Adjusted string action. This guitar never sounded better.

Just so you know, I already realized how stupid this setup is. Mistakes are a part of learning I guess. If somebody knows Ardour well and has some recommendations on plugins to get that punk tone, hit me up.

Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 28/11/2024
This gives me a crisp, crunchy tone. Really dirty sounding, but ideal for raw punk. I have a knock-off Strat and I have it set on the bridge pickup, I am rocking a humbucker there. Feel free to tell me if this setup is stupid, I am genuinely new to this. I just clicked on random plugins.

Linux is great if you don't do professional work that needs some Windows only specific software. I recommend Linux Mint to begin with. Maybe look at Ubuntu as well. You don't need to use the terminal, it's a myth. Everything you would usually do on your computer can be done via the GUI.

Yeah, gaming is genuinely smooth on Linux. Only games with invasive anticheat solutions are still a problem. Personally I even got my simracing wheel to work with community drivers and Proton took care of the games.

Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 24/11/2024
Linux Mint is a good OS to start your Linux journey with. In 2024 there genuinely isn't anything you can't do on Linux as a normal user. Professional stuff? Might not be fully there yet, but anything else an average person does on a daily basis is covered for. Even gaming to a large degree.

Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 23/11/2024
Ardour with guitarix plugins seems to work well for me so far. But I have no previous experiences with any DAW software so I don't really have any comparison. Am I missing much by not using proprietary software? It's not like I'm gonna use it since I'm on Linux but I am curious.

Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 22/11/2024
Got an audio interface today. Focusrite is known to work well under Linux. I have an electric guitar since early 2023 but all I can do is basic power chords because I had no time and motivation to learn properly. I thought that having the ability to record might make me want to finally get serious.

Keep being true to yourself, your stuff is amazing.
020
Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
That's the difference between doing something because it's your job and therefore your obligation versus doing something because you want to do it. That's why I'll keep saying that projects of open nature will always be better because people who contribute do it because they want to make it better.
000
Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
I can see that. I would trust Apple over Google or Meta, I can agree on that. However it is still proprietary code. It's not fundamentally a bad thing, but personally I prefer open source and being able to see the potential malicious code over things I will never be able to see in proprietary code.

Yeah, pretty much. I've got a fairly long commute by train to get to work. If I have to choose between the noises of the train and other people on it versus music that I choose myself, I go with the latter. Earbuds with active noise cancelling do a really good job with the background noise.

If you ignore these people they will get tired quickly and go back to their circlejerk. They need attention so it's best not to give it at all.

Life is so much more than just caring about one's buying power and consuming corporate slop.
040
Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
I wouldn't use corporations as a good example, but setting that aside, I totally get your point. If anything, the corporations have reach and their customers might think twice now and switch.

Aurox @ar-aurox.bsky.social · 19/11/2024
MacOS is certainly better than Windows, no doubt about it, and the Apple silicon made Macbooks really good. But It is still a large corporate owned operating system. I wouldn't trust it just like I don't trust Windows personally.
