One of the furry community's originals, Roz Gibson, is in really big trouble. She is in kidney failure, and needs a donor, so please reskeet. www.furaffinity.net/journal/1138...

I’ve thought long and hard about making this post, but really, at this point, I don’t have much to lose. Desperate times, and all that.

TLDR version: I need a kidney transplant, and I’m looking for a donor. Read below for all the gory details.

Since late 2019, right before Covid hit, I’ve been battling a serious illness. I’ve been kind of cagey about what exactly is wrong, for a number of reasons, but here’s the truth—I’m in full kidney failure.

There is no history of this in my family, so when the symptoms began appearing I didn’t recognize them until it was too late. By the time I went to a doctor my kidney function had dropped into the single digits. Most kidney failure is caused by diabetes or high blood pressure—I got some weird kidney disease I can’t even pronounce and never heard of: Oxalate Nephropathy.

By adopting some dietary changes and careful monitoring, I was able to limp along with reduced kidney function for several years. But you don’t appreciate how much your kidneys do to keep you healthy until they stop working. There’s constant fatigue and nausea, and a general feeling of unwellness that never goes away.

But eventually I lost even what minimal function I had left, which left the end of the line for kidney disease: dialysis. As of this point I’ve been on dialysis for about 3 years. Let me tell you—dialysis is its own special kind of hell that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy.

But even that is just a stop-gap measure, and my condition is continuing to get worse. Despite this, I’m trying my best to live as normal a life as possible. I’m extremely lucky I have a job that’s willing to allow me 9 hours a week for dialysis, so I’m still working. On weekends I work on my art and comics, and one or two days a month I do my volunteer work at the bird-banding site. I can even travel to see my family—if I arrange for dialysis at a local clinic ahead of time.

All of that is done while trying to deal with the symptoms of kidney failure. I’ve known 4 people who were on dialysis—none of them worked or really did much of anything, and at this point they’re all dead, which doesn’t really give me a lot of hope for my future.

Which brings us to the point of all this—I desperately need a kidney transplant. That is the only thing that will give me a chance at a relatively normal life. I’ve been approved and on the transplant list for a few years, but the waiting period in California is very long. By the time I get to the top of it, I may be too sick to get one. Right now I’m still in relatively good condition, comparatively. A transplant from a living donor lasts much longer and is better in every way than one you get from a deceased donor.

Unfortunately, everyone in my immediate family is too old or has other health problems that preclude donation. So this post is a desperate attempt to find anyone willing to donate. I realize donating a kidney is a lot different than giving ten bucks to a GoFundMe, but as I said at the beginning, at this point I don’t have much to lose by asking.

Here is the living donor site: https://www.uclahealth.org/medical-.....t/living-donor

You can inquire and even arrange to donate completely anonymously if that’s what you want. Hopefully there’s a Jack Salem fan out there who wants to see the stories (and the artist) continue for years to come.

That is all.

Illustration of my galian (weather fox) OC, Frosty. She's a Wind/Ice elemental, with white fur with blue marks around her body, and dark blue eyes, ear insides, sacs and nose. She descents as she smirks confidently. The background is blue with traces of snow and snowflakes.

Kids say the darnedest things dont they? When Adrians daughter Cassie told him that she found a "Transmogrifier" in the attic Adrian felt no concern in humoring her and crawling under the big refrigerator box. Little did he know that the results would be hair raising! (apologies to Bill Watterson )

A young woman scientist robot, Blues, clad in a lab coat, lab glasses, scarf and crutches, is holding herself up on her crutches near a table, one hand placed to her mouth, unable to hold back a laugh!

Tenna turning his head to the side playfully/flirtatious, looking over his shoulder, a blush line on his face, as he reaches up to put the antenna terminal back into place as he starts to walk away.

Blues is holding herself up on her crutches with one hand, laughing so hard she starts crying!

(Japanese women culturally will place their wrist or open hand to their mouth to cover their mouth while laughing.)

Rush is lying down with his chest and face close to the floor, one paw over his eye, looking embarrassed. He still sees the ball with interest.

Blues, looking up to him, making eye contact, looking embarrassed!

Inset:
Tenna takes her hand in one of his gloved hands, one hand on top of hers and one hand below, sandwiching her hand, with one of the terminal balls off his antennae, and looks at her intently with one eyebrow raised.

He is smirking, flirting with her. Blues is confused and curious.

Intruder spotted in the lumberyard! A brief chase ends when Cut Man realizes who Blues is: thought left for dead in the Raid... "Kitto-kun… Do you really remember me?" Art done by the amazingly talented @theabbeyroadie.bsky.social #Rockman #MegaMan #MegaManOC #RockmanOC #CutMan #BluesLight

Cut Man, a timber felling robot, reaching down to pick up a lab technician robot in a lab coat, scarf and lab glasses, and helps her stand from a grassy field, her crutches spilled on the grass behind her after a brief chase through the lumberyard.

Cut Man has the emotional realization hit him that she is his older sister, the one he thought was destroyed in the raid on their lab, and not the trespasser he thought he was going to capture.

He’s kneeling to her level, hand extended out, and she’s on her sitting, one knee bent, reaching her right hand to his.

Speech bubble from Blues saying “Kitto-kun… Watashi wo hontoni oboete imasu ka?”
