No more F-35 for anyone... If Trump violates interenational intellectual property law having US companies make these items, it invalidates all US I.P., like pharmaceuticals. All those expensive US drugs under patent projection, suddenly become public domain and anyone can make and sell generics.

The story is inaccurate. Product labelling, as in what's on the food itself, is federal (CFIA), what's on the shelf is provincial. This is Ontario so the following applies. www.ontario.ca/page/regulat... It's progressive compliance (like CFIA), repeat offense increase severity of response.

That's going to kill F-35 construction for everyone. Canadian companies (not just divisions of US companies) provide essential components. If they break licensing/patent protections, US pharmaceuticals lose their protection in Canada and go generic (already threatened during Trump's first term).

I guess you missed the part about businesses are able to obtain remissions (exceptions) from the counter tariffs under certain circumstances. (They can apply retroactively within existing statutory framework.) www.canada.ca/en/departmen...
Text from Canada counter tariff remission page 2026-09-08:

In relation to requests for remission of the tariffs, the Government will consider requests for remission in the following instances:

To address situations where goods used as inputs cannot be sourced domestically, either on a national or regional basis, or reasonably from non-U.S. sources.

To address, on a case-by-case basis, other exceptional circumstances that could have severe adverse impacts on the Canadian economy.

Remission represents an exception to the rules by providing for relief of otherwise applicable duties. As such, in all instances above, the federal government will only consider remission where it is required to address exceptional and compelling circumstances that, from a public policy perspective, are found to outweigh the primary rationale behind the application of the tariffs.

Take picture and file a complaint with the Canadia Food Inspection Agency.
The CFIA said it wants Canadians to report products that they think are labelled in a misleading manner through its food complaint or concern web page.

“Canadians can learn more about how to identify Canadian food with our quick reference guide about the different words or symbols they may find while grocery shopping—some mean the food has Canadian content, while others mean it meets a Canadian standard for quality or organic content,” the CFIA said.

“For example, claims such as “Canadian Beef” tell you about the origin of the product. Whereas food grades such as “CANADA AAA” on beef establish product quality requirements (for example, maturity, colour, and marbling).”

Hard line approach demanded by Canadians

Canadians’ appetite for capitulation when it comes to Trump’s threats has long been minimal. Consistently, fewer than two-in-five have said that making concessions to maintain the relationship is the preferred path. Currently, two-thirds say that they would have the Canadian government take a hard approach even if it means drawing the ire of Trump’s team.

As negotiations of a potential, but perhaps unlikely, renewal of the USMCA trade deal near, it’s worth noting how Canadians’ attitudes have changed compared to when that deal was first negotiated during Trump’s first term. Then Canadians were much more likely to say they wanted a soft approach to preserve the relationship between the two countries.

Orwellian. Might as well include the long passage.
Passage from 1984, George Orwell

Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten. . . . The process will still be continuing long after you and I are dead. Every year fewer and fewer words, and the range of consciousness always a little smaller. Even now, of course, there's no reason or excuse for committing thought-crime. It's merely a question of self-discipline, reality-control. But in the end there won't be any need even for that. . . . Has it ever occurred to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?
