I'm thinking about entering some photos into a local art show exhibiting Florida's biodiversity next year, and the hardest part is choosing which of my vast assortment of silly creatures the people need to see Like this perky Geolycosa 🖤 #EmotionalSupportSpood #Arachtober

I keep finding more of my favorite tiny nugget children, at new locations, for science 🖤 This is Mr Chalcoscirtus (for now), a tiny shiny perky lump with a little orange face. I love him. #EmotionalSupportSpood #Arachtober

Tmarus minutus, a very silly tiny crab spider which is rarely seen (you gotta dig deep into marshy/savannah grasses to find them) and not actually known to be in Florida until recently. I love her

There's nothing quite like walking the white sands and spotting a large bright orange lump 🧡 Ms Phidippus cardinalis #EmotionalSupportSpood

Pelegrina tillandsiae, a salticid species so named because they live their entire lives in Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides). A fellow naturalist in Georgia introduced me to these pale children today. We love a highly specialized creature 🤍 #EmotionalSupportSpood 🧪

Sometimes the rayless sunflower has rays and goddamn is it gorgeous I love them all regardless but the rare appearance (1 out of a hundred today) of their petals is a treat 🔥 #Bloomscrolling

Summer grape leaf out here in the skimpiest outfit you've ever seen on a grape leaf Barely covering anything, "heavily armored female video game character" levels I'm here for it, it's cool af

A single grape leaf which is so constricted it looks like 5 tiny maple leaves sprouting from a central chevron shape

That vestigial instinctive swat I do when a "wasp" buzzes around me as I'm peering at some other bug, but no it's a clearwing moth 🖤

Like sometimes there's flowers with absolutely no Bug on them at all, and certainly none with two Bugs

Stalk lined with purple flowers, two of which are purple moths blending in near perfectly - the bleeding flower moth (Schinia sanguinea)

Another blazing star stalk, also featuring a bleeding flower moth hidden in the blossoms

Yet another blazing star stalk, tipped with the lovely purple flowers and a moth hiding in plain sight

It's wildflower season, which I've come to appreciate more and more and not just for the bugs on all the flowers: plants are fascinating, and sometimes fasciated?? I love our blazing stars (Liatris spicata here), and it was cool to see a fasciated one! #Bloomscrolling

Stalk lined with purple buds which I'm holding, at the top it's turned into a bit of a twisted monstrosity (affectionate) as the stalk becomes wide and folded in on itself

I haven't brought home a salticid for emotional (ie, not science) reasons in a few years but today this lovely old Phidippus regius lass was caught in the rain with no hammock in sight and accepted ups. I couldn't resist. She'll spend her days well fed and cozy. 🖤 #EmotionalSupportSpood

Yeah i could photograph real bugs and do naturalist things and let my joy about it be infectious enough to inspire others or I could type prompts into the theft machine to generate soulless things that don't exist you piece of shit, you absolute forgotten pantry potato.
