As a black and white film it is composed with contrast in mind so the visuals are bright and striking, while the average modern medieval movies are just a few darker shades of brown and grey so you can't see shit.

I read the comics a lot as a kid, she was one of my favourite characters ! Evil goth girlfailure with a weird sexual tension with Uncle Scrooge. She's called "Miss Tick" in french, also for some reason she's italian and lives on mount Vesuvius.
