Sure, he committed criminal fraud, but for most of us, his two biggest crimes were: gouging sick people, and disrespecting Wu-Tang.
Court transcript from a Billboard article:

THE COURT: All right. I’m going to excuse you. Juror Number 59, come on up.
JUROR NO. 59: Your Honor, totally he is guilty and in no way can I let him slide out of anything because —
THE COURT: Okay. Is that your attitude toward anyone charged with a crime who has not been proven guilty?
JUROR NO. 59: It’s my attitude toward his entire demeanor, what he has done to people.
THE COURT: All right. We are going to excuse you, sir.
JUROR NO. 59: And he disrespected the Wu-Tang Clan.

"Whatever" and "what ever" are different. "Whatever happened to..." can mean "the unspecified things that happened to", whereas "What ever happened to..." unambiguously means "What was it that happened over time to..." Also, I'm fairly sure they're trying to evoke, presumably to thereby invoke JFK.
Film poster for "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane", starting Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.

The poster's upper frame contains the title and a monochromatic blue image of a broken doll's head on a black background. The lower frame contains close-ups of the two stars' half-lit faces merged next to each other, rendered in monochrome yellow on black. One looks aren't outward while the other looks distressedly upward with her hand to her mouth.

The two frames are separated by the film's tagline on an uneven white strip: "Sister, sister, oh so fair, why is there blood all over your hair?"

Interestingly, if you use a 32-bit float, the loss of precision leads to the expected behavior, but if you use a double/64-bit float, you get the surprise.
A c program and its output. The body of the main() function is

double a = 4.06;
printf("%d %.15lf",
  (int) floor(a * 100),
  a * 100);

Bleh . I was hoping maybe with this book/movie he'd pulled his head out of his ass. I've had a bad taste in my mouth about Weir ever since he gave a book talk at Google LA about "Artemis" and, well, this happened… (Nobody had said anything about him writing a Arab woman. He just came in this hot.)
Tweets from @aprotim (that's me! On the old site.)

#1: “At a talk by Andy Weir about his new book. The majority of time talking about the story is excusing why it's ok that he has no idea how to write an Arab Woman main character. Lots of super WTF whiteness. I'm actually less likely to read it after this talk.”

#2: “"It's a small community, so racism isn't practical! Like America in the 1830s!"
"She's second generation, and second generation Americans are totally Americanized, so I could just make up her culture since she grew up in my made up moon city!"”More tweets from me at old site:

#3: “Argh, I just got mad about this all over. I pointed out to him that I, like his protagonist, was born abroad but raised here, and I'm not the same as my American-for-generations white peers. He responded that his girlfriend is like me and totally "amUHricun".”

#4: “Like, folks have complicated relationships to their heritage, and I can't speak for her, but frankly, I took pains to seem "normal" to my white friends for years. But just because white people told me they "forgot I wasn't white" doesn't mean I wasn't or I could similarly forget.”

#5: “All I'm saying is: if she's happy with him and agrees that her Indianness was entirely subsumed by "Americanness", go with god. But if not, sis, you gotta let him know that we can be "ahMUHricun" and still have a different perspective/attitude informed by our heritage.”

This is not actually hypothetical. Blake Leeper's legs were amputated at age 4. He became a world-class 400m runner on running blades. World Athletics used a dubious metric to say the prostheses he'd used his entire career made him "unnaturally" tall, so he couldn't compete in the 2020 Olympics.
Photo of Blake Leeper standing on a track, smiling, holding an American Flag wide behind him, standing on his below-the-knee running blade prostheses.

Is that a lot for DOD to spend on crab? I have no idea. Quick Google says there are ~1.3 million active duty members. Was this $1.54 worth of crab each, or was it the joint chiefs and Hegseth w/ $200k worth of crab each? Also: as per XKCD, hed should read: Hegseth spent $93000M, incl. $2M on crab.
XKCD showing two panes of a stick-figure newscaster. One, labeled "Dishonest" has a chyron reading "Bailout: 170 billion, Bonuses: $165 million". In the other, labeled "Honest", the chyron reads "Bailout: $170,000 million, Bonuses: $165 million"

Below, the text reads:

Dear news organizations: stop giving large numbers without context or proper comparison. The difference between a million and a billion is the difference between me having a sip of wine and 30 seconds with your daughter, and a bottle of gin in the night with her.

Notice that if they're rich and white, college students are "just kids" when sentencing them for rape. But Black kids hitting a cop in a snowball fight? Then those 18-20yos have too much facial hair to be kids. (Also, no hate, but I've seen the pictures. I know 13yos with more facial hair.)
During a news conference Tuesday afternoon, Mamdani claimed the incident "looked like kids at a snowball fight," though a photo shared by police showed a man with facial hair holding a massive snow boulder.

NYPD officials later said the men were roughly 18 to 20 years old.

Hey, remember: if you recognize any of the guys in the pictures, no you fucking don't. Also? This shit is the funniest thing I've ever read. Transferred in stable condition, were they? With luck, they'll be back on the streets if an NYU pillow fight gets out of hand.
Two uniformed officers were responding to a call about a large, disorderly group in Washington Square Park when two men "intentionally struck the police officers multiple times with snow and ice in the head, neck and face, causing injuries," according to the NYPD.

Officials said the officers were taken by EMS to Northwell Greenwich Village Hospital in stable condition, and the unidentified men fled the area.

The duo is wanted for assault on a police officer, a felony in New York City, according to the NYPD.

That's the relevant part for the joke. But if you want more details, here they are:
It was "Canadian Desi Stand-Up Comedy Superstars Show" in Brampton on 8 November, 2024. It featured Jabar Bains, Johnny Bata, Sunny Deewana, and Azfar Ali. It was put on by Laal Button in collaboration with Heritage India.

My grandfather used to say "and Magda Goebbels made a great strudel" and never knew what it meant until after he died my grandmother explained some magazine did a fluff interview with Magda Goebbels a few years before WW2 that included her strudel recipe and my grandfather, who hated the Nazis with the passion of 10,000 suns, thought it was an example of the media sanitizing evil people and he would use the phrase when someone asked him to overlook a bad person doing bad things and focus on the good.

When a young male (let's say 14 to 19) is a danger to himself and others, society gives the supporting family two options:

1. Watch people die.
2. Kill your own son.

Those are your only options. I chose #1 and watched my stepson die. I was relieved he took no one else with him.

I just learned that Dennis Rodman's deadbeat dad, who had 29 kids by 16 women was named Philander, and like, I don't believe in nominative determinism, but that name is too on the nose.
Highlighted except from an article:

"Dennis never had a father figure growing up, as Philander Rodman abandoned him when he was three or four years old. Philander was a womanizer who claimed to have fathered 29 children with 16 different women."
