My spooky season TBR is as follows. Realistically I probably won't get to all of them bc I'm still reading other stuff but I really want to get around to these. Which one should be first? I know you all have read these. I'm always late to the party. #booksky #horror #books

🤔 Does it take a certain personality type to spend almost an entire year growing their 🌶️ - there are many hours of watering, supporting, harvesting, prepping and cooking. The 👇 sounds like a day in September, October and November to me! 📦 👨‍🌾 #Gardening #VegetableGrowing #GrowYourOwn 🌶️🌱
Some young Chilli seedlings at the very beginning of their lifecycle in early January.Much later in the season they are all growing big and strong, needing structural support and watering. Before finally harvesting can commence in September onwards. Here a hand is holding a punnet that is overflowing with ripe red Chilli pods.An array of tubs and punnets arranged on an outdoor picnic bench, mostly with a single Chilli variety in each pot. This is the result of one day spent harvesting all the plants of what I could find. It took many hours to achieve. After this I went and packaged them up into labelled bags for posting to friends and colleagues, which took further hours of effort.

I went with the Target edition. Peep this badass VHS themed design. Fantastic trend. I can't pass up a slipcase. This is my first paperback slipcase and it definitely should be done more. Did any of you get the Nightworms box? #booksky #horror #newbooks
The picture is of the new release book Target edition Summer Slasher by E.L. Chen. It is a paperback that is made to resemble a VHS cassette tape. This special edition features a slipcase that looks like a VHS SlipcaseThe edges are painted red with weapons stenciled down it. The blurb is on the back. It reads: The sleepy town of Cedar Lake is best known as the shooting location of the campy ’80s horror flick Slasher. In high school, preppy Patrick, jock Jason, cheerleader Tiffany, stoner Freddy, goth Jennifer, and nerdy Mikey had played the cast of Slasher during midnight showings, with virginal Carrie as the Final Girl, of course.

Years later, the friends reunite at the remote cabin where Slasher was filmed. They’ve changed since high school—Carrie found a boyfriend, Patrick came out, Mikey bulked up, and, well, Freddy’s still stoned—and they’re looking forward to a weekend to catch up. But when night falls, and the eponymous masked killer is spotted, the reunion takes a deadly turn. The friends discover their tires deflated and the phone line disconnected, and soon they’re being stalked by a mysterious assailant. Is someone trying to make their Slasher experience as authentic as possible?

One thing is for sure. Before the night is over, they each will have to take on the role they thought they'd left behind.A picture of the book and slipcase inside one another. The spine looks like a VHS Label and the cover shows multiple young adults in front of a spooky cabin and a masked figure.

Hopeless Necromantic by Shiloh Briar was the perfect romantasy rom-com in between heavy horror and dark romance I've been reading lately. It had heart ....and undead rat bombs. I can't recommend this enough for romantic comedy and romantasy fans. #booksky #romantasy #urbanfantasy

This gorgeous edition of Calypso by Oliver K Langmead is from @thebrokennbinding For my full review see my Bookstagram post (aprilsbookishlife on IG also).
This picture depicts the cover of Calypso by Oliver K Langmead in shades of neon pink and green. It shows a fungus type plant with a sun dawning behind a planet in white. The edges of this edition are also sprayed neon pink. The endpapers are of a fungus, slime mold type picture. The colors here are pink, blue and green similar to the cover. The writing on page is unconventional in a poetic, artistic manner meant to evoke a nonhuman consciousness. Pictured is a page from the book with words scattered around a black and white picture of a plant.
