It's not Early early work, but I found an older sketchbook with some ink and or marker pieces in it, 2017-18

The point of a knife almost reaches the viewer as it cuts and divides one little slime blob creature into two, while another two linger on the cutting board and slip over the edge

Sketchbook page including some testing for brush strokes, textures, and darkness, and a little bird, but mostly featuring an eye in which the pupil has become a substance instead of mere void, and drips down the iris and crosses the lower lashes. Page dated May 2018 with linked initials "GAR"

Crochet lace bracelet with an english 6 steel hook (2 mm at the hook) and one loose end to weave in that's on a tapestry needle (eye width also 2 mm). The bracelet has a row of open spaces to thread a ribbon through and one side has lacy loops hanging off of a row of triangles

Working on some #retransformativeFanworks so this is still very much a work in progress, but! The sharing of progress helps fuel the work. This is a comic page wip for 'tis the season by cattewife

Rough pencil sketch and layout for a 1 page comic. Top panel has a chibi Hua Cheng face and the lines "Oh, no. No, no, no, no—" between panels lies a harsh and wet sneeze onomatopoeia. The next three panels are tiny and empty, diminishing as the sneeze fades. The main panel contains Hua Cheng and Xie Lian sitting in bed, sheets pooling at their waists. Hua Cheng's face is still scrunched, holding a tissue over his nose and mouth with both hands, and Xie Lian looking on in mild concern from over his shoulder. The next panel is a little italic "wow" with a chibi Xie Lian head, followed by the lines "That's putting a new spin on Crimson Rain" where "Crimson Rain" sits on its own line in large cursive.

My hand reaches in from out of frame to lightly pick up the upper lip of a golden retriever and show all her teeth. She's just letting me do it even though she could get away by just rolling her head a little and not even so much as raising a paw.

So the impulse purchase child branded air dry clay at the grocery store was worthwhile because I enjoyed making these and we must cleave to joy

Simple unpainted clay figures of Xie Lian and Hua Cheng in San Lang shape. They are both comfortably palm sized, but Hua Cheng is taller than Xie alian. They're basically little heads stuck on top of cylinders.

This may be the only thing i did today, but guess who finally drew a thing inspired by butchinelle's delightful French volume 4 cover (before the edit)?

Hua Cheng in a very high cropped letter top under his overlayer. He leans back, propped on his elbows with his overshoot pulled open and falling off. Xie Lian's hand reaches in from the side of the frame, fingers hovering over the center of his chest like they either just pushed him down or are about to touch. Hua Cheng's mouth is half open, in surprise or anticipation, and his eye is near to drifting shut

A sketch attempting to convey the following image: The page is framed in the red columns and scroll work of a temple's door, construction straight and immaculate. The page is divided into three panels. One. The roof, regimented beams and crossbars singed, some beginning to break under their own weight. Two. The temple altar, a figure bound to it, described only by the absence of any mark as if too painful to even see. A flashbulb shadow, clean of soot or ash, of a kneeling figure climbs from the floor to the surface of the altar. Three. The step before the alter falls into the panel border, the blank void of Xie Lian's suffering creeps and pools from the cut between perspectives. The edge of the alter is dirty, except where a hand once laid on it, unable to touch the blank pain.

Laid out on the floor is a baby size clown suit, which is a baggy sort of coverall that goes from ankles to neck and has long sleeves. The clown suit is purple and blue with some pink and yellow trim around the shoulders and hems. It has a matching floppy cone shaped hat.

The second draft of the zine is laid on top of the first draft so you can see the second draft is much denser and includes more topics.$

Napkin refolded to a half-square, and the the top edge folded down a couple times, each fold concealing a theoretical section of used tissue to leave the outside of the tissue dry and clean

I don't remember when I drew this anymore but I should play with lost/broken edges in line work again

3 doodles with a mix of blocks of color and ink lines defining the shapes of someone shrugging nonchalantly, a bust with half their face covered by hair, and a hand with dramatic lighting on it. Ink lines and sometimes even the color blocks fade away where light hits directly, shadows are defined by a second more intense color, or black ink lines. The ink lines serve not only as shadow but as regular linework definig features within a block of lighting. The phrase "lost edges" is written along the bottom edge of the paper.
