Title: Protection Against Corrosion

A pile of rainbow dust: When the seraphs first came to Eida, they fell from the old world and collided with the freshly reshaped continents. This event left behind massive craters infused with primordial light. To protect against Corrosion, the inhabitants of Eida harvest these craters for a wealth of materials, the most plentiful of which is Seraph Chalk. It sees frequent use in medicine, religion, cosmetics, architecture, warfare and cultural rituals.

An iridescent brick: In many homes, a single Seraph Chalk brick is kept either inside or in the structure of the building itself to be used in any Fractal-related emergency. From time to time, these bricks have been forcibly claimed by the government to fill their coffers, similar to gold and silver in times of crisis. In an attempt to avoid this, people from poorer backgrounds have historically broken down and coloured their chalk to disguise it as a spice or paint pigment. Others take the simpler route of burying their bricks.

Intricately designed coins: Though rarely seen in chalk, gold and silver appear time to time during the harvesting process. These metals come from two sources; either remains of the sun goddess or the leftover carapace of a seraph. As remnants of angelic entities, gold and silver possess remarkable warding properties against Fractals. In a pinch throwing a coin, an act also referred to as "paying the toll", can save lives.

Protection Against Corrosion, Part 2

A green and red pair of bottles: Powdered chalk and holy water are bottled and sold by a number of different organisations. The Halo Association is one such group, peddling their 'high-quality' medicinal ingredients in the fight against Corrosion. Despite their marketing claims, there is no difference between regular bottled holy water and their own, save for the exorbitant cost. A chokehold on their home markets make them rather wealthy indeed.

A rainbow coloured clam with an embryo inside: Corepearl Clams are a unique type of mollusc Lightkin that can be found in the waters around Seraph Craters. Not only are their pearls vital to the practice of summoning, their meat can be pickled and used as a holistic medicine to slow down the spread of Corrosion infections. Mawani culture views these creatures as a sacred symbol of life and fertility, which frequently clashes with the magical needs of their Kraechian occupiers.

A corepearl clam, which is a special type of creature in this world. The shell and animal are covered in an iridescent sheen and the clam resembles a very small human that has wings and a tail. It also has a pearl for a brain.

Corrosion! Eida is made up of a sort of story/dream matter and Corrosion is a hivemind of cancerous ink which eats away at the words that form reality. That crater was once a country- the god there tried to shoulder the fate of the world alone and paid for it drastically.

I believe this little fellow must carry an ancient curse, in that case! It could be your art program? Sometimes when I'm using CSP I'll load my art and for some reason it'll be corrupted, but I keep all my work on an external hard drive as well. Check all your potential boxes in that regard!

This is wonderful! Have you considered using Wonderdraft at all? It is a one-time payment, but I use it for my own map-making for Eida and I find it handy! I'm on my fifth draft of my own map and I can relate to the suffering of doing it purely in an art program.

I think the advice I would give is to consider if your struggle with style comes from you or if outside opinions have shaped those feelings. If you're confident it's you, I'd look into your favourite art styles and analyse what you like about them/what they lend to a theme!

A dryad with a many-eyed stump for a face, a body like a horse and a long tail tipped with sheaths of wheat. Her hair is made of ferns and her chest and leg is full of honeycomb.
