I re-read I Capture the Castle for my final #RootRootRead square. I read it close to 20 years ago and loved it; upon a re-read I don’t know that I feel the same. Thanks as always to @itsallaboutde.bsky.social for doing this for us!

Saw Backrooms this weekend and I do not get what is supposed to be entertaining about that movie. It just reminded me of when I used to work at Sears, down to no customers, empty spaces, and bad lighting.

I was like 5 or 6 when I first saw that scene. I feel like we were being watched by a relative because there was no way my parents would play that movie during the day where their children might see it.

Then we watched Backrooms. As someone that has motion sickness issues this movie can go to hell. Also if you find “backrooms” unsettling you’ve obviously never worked in a department store or on night shift.

Next up on the Halloween movie train was Happy Death Day 2U. I liked it, but this is a sci fi adventure comedy that has a small slasher section. It is in no way a horror movie.

Every October the husband and I binge on spooky/scary/Halloween themed movies and television shows. This year we kicked-off with Happy Death Day. I liked this one way more than I thought I would. Funny, with good characters. Not too scary but that’s okay.

I once saw him go on an anti-abortion rant on twitter. Another time I accidentally discovered he followed Turning Point on instagram. He could have evolved from that viewpoint but I doubt it. Have no fondness for that man.

I heard it once because I was too lazy to hook my phone up (my phone is too fancy for my old car) and was stuck listening to the local pop station for 10 minutes. I listen to some newer music (Olivia Rodrigo is fave) but mostly stick to the tired and true.
