Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 05/08/2026Just had a real gully washer here and it flushed a toad and gray treefrog out of one of the downspouts at the office. Relocated from the parking lot to the woods 👌 000

Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 10/12/2025Since I don't smoke, sometimes I just go stand in the bathroom at work and dissociate for a few minutes. 020

Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Truly one of Appalachia's weirdest creatures, the spiny softshell turtle (Apalone spinifera). From their snorkel noses to their weird leathery shells, every inch of this turtle is highly specialized and bizarre. And now you can have these weird little guys as a decal! Find it on my Etsy shop. 000
Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 17/02/2025Snakes are always tricky, it's difficult to find the right balance of scale details. Too much detail and you'll never be done, not enough and it just looks like a worm. I think I found the balance though and I really enjoyed working on this queen snake (Regina septemvittata). 000
Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 16/02/2025I was on the news tonight and personally I love this screen shot I took. 040
Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 06/02/2025Whatever the thing is that tells the body to stop eating humus, I don't have it. 000

Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 07/12/2024This red eft is one of the first decals I illustrated. It's based on a photograph I took of a very small but beautifully colored newt crossing a sidewalk in Kanawha State Park here in WV. 010
Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 06/12/2024Cold weather got you feeling blue? Maybe a little brilliant blue crustacean could cheer you up. Meet the meadow river mudbug (Cambarus pauleyi)! This charismatic crawdad is an endemic species native only to certain high elevation wetlands in WV. 220

Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 25/11/2024Sometimes I find a good meme while using my business accounts and I have to DM my personal account so I can then disseminate it to the proper degenerates. 000
Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 22/11/2024I had a dream last night I was standing under a cabin porch light where bats were catching moths in mid air. 010

Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 13/10/2023Nothing says "fall" like marbled salamanders and these marbled salamanders say fun words like "WEIRD," "STRANGE," and "FREAKY." 010
Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 09/10/2023An update on sitting at my desk eating native fruits despite my coworkers lack of enthusiasm. I've moved on to maypops and no one will even try them. Oh well, more for me. 010
Appalachian Weird @appalachianweird.bsky.social · 22/09/2023It's pawpaw season which means I will be sitting at my desk eating pawpaws whether my coworkers like it or not. 010
