I always miss painting and never do anything about it, so today I decided to work on priming this thing I found at the local Goodwill. Gotta complain about their lighting though; thought the frame was real wood until I got it home. Still, nobody's going to see the cheap faux wood but me.

Haven't painted in a couple of years (1 year? 2? I don't remember), but that sure doesn't stop me from buying a pair of 16 x 24 floating frame style Home Goods wall art at Goodwill. Will I actually paint on them or will they sit and collect dust for the next 3 years? Who knows?

Got into needlepoint last year when I snagged a canvas secondhand. I like it. It's easy, relaxing & the texture of the stitches are weirdly addictive. Canvases cost a load of cash though- a lot of them are handpainted except for a couple of companies.

Did this with another deck (the This Might Hurt Tarot, which I love) and...it's interesting. Mostly I'm hung up on having the 3 of Swords as the Advice card, the Lovers as the challenge card and the Devil as my guide card. All the card names in the alt in case the photo is too crunchy to see them.

An elaborate tarot card spread that is laid out with 12 cards in a diamond shape, 4 cards in each corner of the diamond and one card off to the side.
The cards are laid out as follows from the top: The 2 of Swords, the Knight of Swords, The Empress, The Hanged Man, The Queen of Pentacles, The Ace of Wands, The Ace of Swords, the 10 of Pentacles, the Two of Cups, the 9 of Pentacles, the 4 of Cups, and Temperance. The corner cards are as follows from the top right: The Knight of Cups, the 6 of Pentacles, the 8 of Swords and the Emperor. The last card is The Devil card.

Half the canvas is blank except for primer and I kinda like the effect of the translucent "flowers". I bought some interference paint to see how that looks on top of the gel and it definitely looks better on the blank side than on the color side.

Today's set up: I've been experimenting with using gloss gel medium to add sculptural texture to canvas. Mostly because I'm almost out of modeling paste. I used palette knives to make the flower shapes.

I'm back after taking a break (and then forgetting Bluesky existed in the first place). I figure I'll post the occasional WIP, but since I don't have an art style or any original ideas, most of what I've been doing is just painting my own versions of random images.

Finished another #bookbinding kit today! I really liked this one (sold on Etsy by ThePaperCraftPanda). The Youtube video & blog post instructions were easy to follow. I found that binder clips kept my early signatures in place nicely. Had to tie on extra string, but there was a video about that too.
