2/4 @apnews.com continues to pursue a bad faith effort to get rid of good union jobs. They are sacrificing reliability to save pennies.
On a red background with the AP News guild logo at the top, white text reads: "AP continues to pursue a bad faith effort to get rid of good union jobs. They are terminating photo editors and video producers to expand a new hub where they are "not looking for perfection." They are sacrificing reliability to save pennies."

In the middle of the page is a photo of three union members working at their desks with red union t-shirts saying "#WeAreAP" hanging off the backs of their chairs. On a red background with the AP News Guild Logo at the top, a quote from an impacted U.S. union member is shown in white text. It says: "They don't care about us and Derl has NEVER, not even once, come to visit us in photos to discuss what we do or how we do it."
Below the quote is a picture of an AP photographer wearing their union t-shirt working in the field, facing away from the camera.

1/4 @apnews.com has told some video and photo guild members in the U.S. that the last day for those affected by layoffs will be August 21. Meanwhile the company is actively hiring for these same jobs in India.
On a red background with the AP News Guild Logo, white text reads: "Layoff updates. AP has told some video and photo guild members in the U.S. that the last day for those affected by layoffs will be August 21. Meanwhile the company is actively hiring for these same jobs in India. On a red background with the AP News Guild logo at the top of the page, white text reads, "Meanwhile over on likedin..." Then there is a screengrab of the union on Linkedin reposting Vice president of news and head of production, Derl McCrudden's post about the new video and photo positions in India.

The union's comments read: "Derl cheekily forgot to mention that the AP is laying off dozens of producers across the U.S., LatAm and Europe to create this hub in India. Specifically in the U.S., the company is seeking to eliminate positions covered by the Guild in yet another attempt to take away good union jobs. The Associated Press is terminating legacy producers and skilled journalists to expand a new hub where they are "not looking for perfection." The company is sacrificing reliability to save pennies. These new jobs are breaking the hearts of AP journalists who dedicated decades of service in the name of independent news. Offshoring is not expanding."

When our work requires more care and experience than ever, why replace U.S. journalists?
On a red background with the AP logo, white text reads:
Offshoring does not equal expanding. AP is trying to replace entire talented, award winning teams in a misguided attempt to save money. At a time when U.S. news requires more care
and experience than ever, why replace U.S. journalists? On a red background with the AP News Guild logo, white text reads:

AP wants to lay off 30 more U.S. journalists and move those roles to India. That’s after laying off or buying out nearly 150 U.S. staffers over the past two years.
On a red background with the AP News Guild Logo, white text reads:
"AP Layoffs... AGAIN! Over the past two years, The Associated Press has bought out or laid of nearly 150 of its U.S. journalists. Now AP wants to lay off 30 more from U.S. staff and move those jobs to India."On a red background with the AP News Guild Logo, white text reads:
On June 30 AP announced their plan to “develop a centralized global hub in India to increase the size of our production staff” for video and photos. The Guild was told that the company seeks to ELIMINATE 30 JOBS in the U.S.

3/5 Meanwhile, AP has found plenty of resources to outsource video production jobs to India, away from video staff in the U.S. and elsewhere.

AP's Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation is the kind of work executive editor Julie Pace says “highlights the unique strengths of AP’s global, multiformat newsroom.” But those strengths are being hacked away as management leaves U.S. staffers in the dark on impending layoffs.

2/3 Working in a newsroom, even remotely, is not like any other job. We didn’t just say goodbye to colleagues, but to decades long friends, confidants, storytelling partners, and role models who have shaped the way the world will understand its history for years to come.

1/3 Today, 40 Associated Press guild-covered employees across the U.S. who accepted buyouts left the newsroom for the final time. We’ve been told layoffs will be coming, with no clear timeline. In solidarity, our members in office, at home, and in the field wore their union red today.
