Aphasia CRE – New MMAT Tele Trial Website Now Available for Speech Pathologists
The MMAT Tele trial is still recruiting and needs just 22 more people with post-stroke aphasia to complete this stage of the study. This important research is exploring the feasibility and acceptability of a behavioural aphasia intervention. The results will help us understand more about delivering aphasia intervention over telehealth during the pivotal first 12 months post stroke. We have just launched a new website for the study!

New Research- Preparing speech pathologists to deliver TeleCHAT via telerehabilitation
How can we prepare speech pathologists to deliver intensive aphasia rehabilitation online? A new publication explores training for speech pathologists delivering TeleCHAT, a telerehabilitation intensive, comprehensive aphasia program (ICAP). What did the study find? Multimodal and targeted training can help speech pathologists feel confident and prepared to deliver ICAPs via telerehabilitation. The findings highlight the value of using different training methods and providing training that is specific to the components of comprehensive aphasia therapy.

📢 New Publication Alert: Shaping Better Support for Carers of People with Aphasia
Who doesn't love a checklist?! ✅ Care partners and family members of people with aphasia face unique challenges after stroke. They are often learning how to support someone with a communication disability while also managing changes to their own roles, relationships, wellbeing, and daily routines. In our newly published research paper, we explored whether the existing Screening Tool for Carers of Young People with Stroke adequately captured the needs of carers supporting someone with aphasia.

Match the Momentum: Unite for Aphasia Awareness
The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia have pledged $72,958 towards a global aphasia awareness campaign... if we can match their contribution, dollar for dollar. We need your help to match the momentum and make aphasia awareness a reality! Aphasia affects millions - yet awareness remains heartbreakingly low. Aphasia robs people of their communication, but not their thoughts, feelings, or humanity. This lack of awareness translates to a lack of support and empathy from the general public; fewer opportunities to return to work, education, and social activities; and insufficient funding for aphasia services.
