New voting requirements and redistricting threatens to disenfranchise voters and harm their health.
A screenshot of an article from The Nation's Health called, "Tighter voting restrictions threaten public health across US." Below the title is the author's name, Natalie McGill, and the issue, The Nation's Health September 2026, 56 (7) 1-14. Next is a photo of a person wearing a backwards ball cap, a backpack, a cross necklace and tubes for an oxygen mask with an "I voted" sticker on their finger. Below that is the first two paragraphs of the article: Millions of Americans will soon cast their votes in a national midterm election, choosing the candidates they believe have their well-being in mind. But the path to the ballot box is paved with inequity. Strict citizenship and voting ID requirements on top of racially-motivated redistricting threatens to not only disenfranchise voters, but lock them out of choices that could improve individual and overall public health."
