Not tied to any manufacturer, PhotonBench works across CCD, sCMOS, EMCCD, and InGaAs sensors. Pick a mode (Imaging, Spectroscopy, or SNR), plug in your specs, hit play. Great for building intuition on QE, read noise, etc. — whether you're a student or a researcher.

🚨 Side project alert: PhotonBench, an open-source camera simulation tool. SNR curves are great data but not visual. So in the wee hours before the baby woke up, I built something that shows you how manufacturer specs translate into camera performance.

I will say, a lot of the running content I followed took them a long time to build up (Citius, Strength Running, etc). So I could imagine the idea of starting completely fresh is hard for small teams/individuals.
