I've still never had a more harrowing experience than ending That Part in chapter 4. Many games have you do evil things, even tragic things like choosing one life over another, but LiS' version wrecked me. I had to put the game down for ages afterwards.

My favourite sci-fi book is the fourth book in the Jumper series. You may have seen the mediocre 2008 movie but the book series is about people who learn to teleport, and exploring what that means physically, learning more and more. In the fourth one the protagonist decides she wants to go to space.

Yep. If you do not allow people to exist peacefully within the law, you cannot be offended when they accept that and start breaking the law, whether to improve their own life or to bring down some of the protected people who harmed them. The social contract must bind both ways.

Also, since plenty of Jewish folks lived there alongside Muslims and Christians, the problem wasn't their religions. Certainly there were conflicts, but nothing out of the ordinary. Israel's issue has been Europeans immigrating and wanting to take charge - records show they angered local Jews too.

The ending of act 1 really kicks the entire rest of the game into high gear. Phenomenal game, absolutely gorgeous, and it has one of the best dogs in gaming too. I'm going to wait until the photo mode drops before I replay it, but man, Remedy are the best.

The 90s were a conflicted time for this sort of thing. I think personally if it wasn't the animated superhero cartoons (BTAS and X-Men mainly) then it was Samus Aran. The box art on Metroid 2 was SO cool.

What do you mean, "The origin of Nightmare"? It's a failed bioweapon project in the scrapyard of a station making bioweapons. Why would it need an origin story? Similarly, why do we need Ridley's corpse to have been seen in a game we played? Samus kills Pirates and Ridley especially all the time.

Be in the air! Her side swipe will generally miss you if you're doing an air combo, and that's the hardest one of her attacks to dodge. You can keep swinging away, and only need to dodge to the side if it's going to be a down-slam.

Judging by the recent footage, yeah I don't think they're changing that part. They show the bridge Saria gives Link the fairy ocarina on and the transition straight to Hyrule Field. It definitely makes more sense to change it though - if it goes field -> bridge -> Kokiri, how do people get lost?

Did you bounce off Control at the start? Because that's understandable, they mostly intentionally made the early parts where you're just a human with a gun vs eldritch horrors more brutal than the rest of the game. It really starts to open up when you track down equipment, and becomes a ton of fun.
