Another successful event in the books! Dr. Eilat Glikman and Colin Bourque (pictured) taught us about supermassive black holes and neutron stars, while UVM Space Club MC’d our trivia portion of the night. Thank you all for a wonderful afternoon. See you next time!
Colin Bourque stands on a stage off to the right of the frame pointing to a large screen in the center of the image. The screen is showing an illustration of accretion onto a compact object. The photo is bathed in blue and purple lights from above.

The UVM Space Club had the (large!) room all-in competing for prizes by answering space-themed questions. It was the perfect way to end the night. #astronomy #trivia #vermont #aotvt

We have liftoff! 🤩 Biggest thanks to Kendall Sippy from Middlebury College & Dr. Cooney from the University of Vermont for being our first speakers. @uvm.space had the whole room on the edge of their seats during trivia and Four Quarters Brewing gave us the best space-themed venue we could ask for.
First speaker of the night, Kendall Sippy from Middlebury College, talking about habitability of planets around supermassive black holes. The slide next to them says “Where do supermassive black holes come from?” with a diagram of the evolution of the universe. Kendall is to the right of the projector screen wearing a tan shirt and black pants, speaking into the mic. The wall behind them has a mural of a space ship surrounded by stars.
