Army brat, Army wife. "All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all." Also, "He who made kittens, put snakes in the grass." Still, we must get back to the garden.

Gardens are ever-changing. #Gardening #Flowers. Yes, I have a lot of bolted parsley -- I am still hoping for swallowtail caterpillars!
Purple tall serum and red cardinal flower 'Starship' series, with purple and white liatris, lower left corner. Blue ballon flower 'Komachi' above that, and one more behind the raised bed, in a pot. Spent lavendar lower right, with purple coneflower above that. Some yellow calendula.

Update. Early June picture of the same grassy knoll. Still messy (always) 😁. The beautiful hair grass won't, unfortunately, remain as fluffy if good rains happen; it will mat.
Mexican hair-grass (I think) in foreground. Karl Forster in back, showing signs, I think, of the yellow stripe fungus. Little clump to the right of K.F. is a native big bluestem, coming up.

All this growth was cut out of lawn several years ago, using the cardboard method. I have a mix of native and non-native in it.
All non-grass vegetation cut out of lawn several years ago. Rocky Mountain Columbine & other columbine, verbascum, checkermallow, California poppies, clover.

All I have is a purty picture of them. I planted Rocky Mountain columbine from seed, and had about 20 that friends and family didnt want (😁), so I planted them all. A couple are all white instead of the blue & white.

This is a (very messy) picture of my current "grassy knoll."
Two tall 'Karl Forster' and (leftmost) a 'Karl Forster' that was chopped back last early summer, because it was showing signs of the stripe rust that is affecting wheat in the Willamette Valley. I like the way it ended up looking. In front is what may be a 'Mexican Hair' grass; it is lovely! -- until it rains, then the 'hair' gets matted down. I have ruby Muhly grass as filler, and it never shows like it does in catalog pictures.

I grew some winecup clarkia/godetia (clarkia purpurea) this year. They're pretty but so small -- the flowers are about a half-inch across.

Are they a clover-like thing? I saw yours and thot of mine, but mine are bunnytail grass. Ignore the messy shirley poppies, I will cut them down after th incoming heatwave. Obviously, I have some understory plants ... <g>.
White fluffy bunnytail grass, abt 10" high. Zonal geranium, shirley poppies, California poppies, sparse pods of a native (I think) Queen Anne's Lace wild relative, and a purple, tall sedum.

My common camas, just barely in bud stage (daffodils in backdrop). Perhaps I should water ...
