From 1955, a fascinating short novel by Ruth Park, and a rare example of a story tackling class- and race-conscious barriers in 1920s NZ: deceptively a nostalgic comic novel, Pink Flannel a.k.a. Dear Hearts and Gentle People is more than that. anzlitlovers.com/2026/09/28/p...

Sometimes war is justified. Japanese imperialism had to be stopped somehow and they would not negotiate, and they would not surrender. They were imposing slavery including sex slavery in Asia and SE Asia, they were starving the local people, and their brutality was appalling. WW2 was a just war.
