Banks don't care about being paid back they care about having the maximum number of people indebted to them while being able to stay afloat and give ridiculous bonuses to the people at the top because the more people you have indebted to you the more power you have over everything in the world

A lot of people could contribute positively and have a good life with some special accommodation but a corporate job, a corporate landlord, a corporate merchant, a corporate medical provider, a corporate lender, is not going to provide any special accommodation so those people are left to suffer

I think there will be a brief moment before the robots consider us an unnecessary risk where AI will be super useful Yay human achievement!

People who consider their actions are less likely to act than people who don't consider their actions Society is not led by the best people for the job. society is led by the people who took action to put themselves in a position of power Sadly the shittiest people often just get there first

Corporations are never happy with a good product at a fair price with a steady customer base They always want a little bit more and will push to the absolute edge of acceptability in terms of profit, labor costs/rights and quality We want what's solidly fair we don't want to be pushed to the edge!

My problem with a lot of the people in charge right now is that they would rather align themselves with terrible people who have a lot of money over honorable people who have little money

The thing with AI under capitalism is the same as any other technology under capitalism. Any new technology could be amazing for humanity if employed for the betterment of humanity but what's more likely to happen is that it's going to be used by the powerful to exploit humanity

The problem is we treat corporations as people but corporations don't treat people like people

If you're wondering why Democrats aren't doing more it's because most politicians don't want to rock the boat they just want things to keep going the way they are as much as possible The Democratic party will not be our hero

This is the problem with letting wealthy people run our country. They've put themselves in a position where they're nearly guaranteed to be out of touch and emotionally unstable!

The thing people need to realize is that the US is performing better than ever for those in charge Chaos and desperation are good for those who know how to profit from chaos and desperation Profiting off people living in desperation is evil but the people in charge are not going to change it

Exclusivity has become a selling point for so many things in our culture How are people not embarrassed to flaunt what other people could not attain I don't want a life that's exclusive I want a life that I would hope everyone can have

Your average CEO has already made more money this year than most of the people who work for their companies will make for the rest of the year. Do they really work that much harder?

It cost over a cent and a half to make a penny The only reason we still make pennies is because the people who make money by making them have lobbied to keep them in existence There are better things to spend our time and money on than producing pennies Nobody needs them

In a company culture where you're moving up or moving out, people are always doing work at a higher level than what they're actually getting paid for To get a promotion one usually has to demonstrate that they can perform at the level of the job they want, not the job they are getting paid for

Trump money can buy the publicity to get elected Musk money can bypass the process entirely Musk's net worth is approx 7,000% over Trump's networth I don't think people comprehend the difference in power that affords No one should be able to buy the influence Trump has 7000% that is terrifying

It's not right! We have the resources/knowledge for everyone to be cared for and maybe even not destroy the earth Currently our resources/knowledge go to one group of people being able to have the experience of having more than others And they're not even enjoying it These are not happy people

Just because the post office takes in money doesn't mean it's meant to be profitable. The USPS is a service allowing people to communicate fairly no matter where they live. What other services are next in terms of talks of privatization? I hear the fire department isn't very profitable.

To have large amounts of money in our society requires working the system Some people assume that if you put wealthy people in power they'll work the system on behalf of the people People who work the system for selfish reasons will continue to work the system selfishly but now with more power

My beef with capitalism is the detrimental incentives What's incentivized in society should be what benefits the largest number of people What's currently incentivized favors profit over people and the environment We need to incentivize contributing positively to the world

Are you participating in the same internet traffic economy as the terrible people you post about? If you're posting bad information just to point out it's bad you're actually just normalizing and propagating those viewpoints It's work to educate but if you're not educating you're perpetuating

Someone pointed out the fact that whenever there's a nature area with "hells" or "devils" as part of the name it is almost always an area of spiritual significance to the people native to the area Now whenever I hear those words used to describe a landscape I look it up and it really is every time

Too many conversations about cultural appropriation boil down to white people telling other white people to only do white people stuff. This just reinforces eurocentrism in our art, philosophy and politics. The easy answer is to avoid discomfort, but that does not lead to egalitarianism.

A good chat about Bluesky. This definitely defines the problem I've had with other social media platforms I want software to do what I want. I don't want the software to try to get me to do what it wants. We don't want corporations manipulating personal conversation and information!

Network news gives us the information we need to live our lives in the same way that reality television shows us a clear picture of reality. Both are hyped up dramatized reality adjacent entertainment where the most ridiculous people rise to the top because they drive engagement.

Liberals have essentially gerrymandered themselves by leaving conservative rural areas and consolidating themselves into urban areas thus leaving conservatives to have a disproportionate per capita influence on Congress and Senate. The more extreme conservative policies are the more this happens

Most media companies craft a narrative with their news programs as much as they do with their fictional shows. In a country of hundreds of millions of people you can cherry pick real events to craft whatever narrative you want.

The fact that cars, colors, flavors and smells are gendered is wild! If you can't like or wear any given color you are not a free person! If you can't drive whatever car makes sense givin your life circumstances you are not a free person! If you can't enjoy any flavor or smell You're not free

If you're a person of privilege eliminating racist and homophobic people from your life does not remove them from the world it just leaves the work of educating these people to those who don't have the option to opt out. Don't give them a platform, or validation but do educate!

Ridicule is the tool of the right, education needs to be the tool of the left Education is more work and doesn't provide the same dopamine hit but it's a worthwhile long term investment The right is how it is because of ridicule from within, an outsiders ridicule is never going to counteract that
