Coffee. Anye practically lives on coffee.

My favorite thing to ever come out of the FFXIV short stories!

Yes! Anye is an absolute fiend for seafood and is primarily pescatarian when cooking for herself, but will also enjoy beef or poultry or other meat if offered. Especially Steppe buuz.

I only have one WoL/OC because I can't justify the time commitment to level up an alt that won't even have access to my Mogstation glams & emotes. Granted, she does have a pretty robust supporting cast.

Call me crazy, but Hringhorni kinda gives me Midgar vibes. It makes me suspect the FFVII crossover raids are gonna be more like Ivalice, where we get a version of the VII story that fits within XIV lore, rather than something like the NieR or XI raids where the other game just pops in from thin air.

Canon!Anye is just mad that she's not going. Despite the Forum's & Scions' attempts to keep reflections confidential and away from the public eye, Anye's done enough snooping to know they exist. Not getting to discover the rich history of an entire alternate Etheirys just pisses her off. (1/2)

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Anye would see that as high praise! She loved both of her parents deeply, and she got all of her street-smarts and her love of her Velodyne heritage from her dear departed ma.

Now THAT'S a cause I can get...behind. 😏

070

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

I will say, while I'm disappointed in the double-dip on crossover raids, the last time I was skeptical/disappointed in a raid's theme was finding out about Dawntrail having a pro wrestling tournament. And look how that wound up turning out. So...in a weird way, I'm optimistic because I'm skeptical.

Now we need to be able to combine jobs so I can take my gunblade and a single Bastion skyltborg and be a Gunpaladin.

000

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Oh good, it wasn't just me.

000

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Bastion originating from Aerslaent is interesting. I'm assuming that's how they're going to explain Rhitahtyn having magitek skyltborg, what with it being a martial style that originated with the roegadyn. Also totally predicting that the roe in the trailer is Rhitahtyn's reflection on the Fourth.

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

I certainly wasn't PLANNING on having separate mains for both the 'main tank' and 'off-tank' roles, but...guess I'm a Gunbreaker+Bastion main now. (for tanking at least, probably still a GNB/RDM/AST main overall)

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

I like how I barely got done speculating with my FC about which FFVII characters' outfits the gear for the new 8-person raids would be based on when they immediately swerved me and dropped Tifa & Barrett glams in the typing game of all places. Mavis Beacon prepared me well for this day...

000

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Me: "I do not care about the new tank at all." Bastion: *appears* Me: "I CARE ABOUT THE NEW TANK A LOT! GIMMEGIMMEGIMME!"

Y'know, if they give hyur Hilda ears as an expanded customization option in 8.1 and make racial idles into Action Skins so I can put an elezen idle on Anye, I wouldn't need plugins anymore. Maybe for tattoos, but that's about it.

000

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

A little disappointed that BOTH raid series for Evercold are crossovers. I don't mind one crossover, but two is...ehhhhh... Ah well, I'm sure the fights will be fun.

020

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

During the last pair of trash pulls for Tower of Babil, you can use your ranged skill to pull the second pack of mobs from the corridor below and make them come to you. Way easier and much less messy than grabbing the first pack and running to the second through those stupid crane AoEs.

010

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

Y'know, I haven't played WoW in over 7 years, I wonder what's going on in the lore right now... WoW: "And then the Endsing--I mean, Azeroth, will awaken from her nest and cause the Final Days, leading to WoW 2.0: A World Reborn, and the start of our Titanless Realms Saga!" ...forget I asked. 🙃

010

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

My starting point tends to change based on the game. In Anye's case, I started with a general personality, profession, & alignment and then worked from there to make it make sense within XIV's lore. OTOH, my Secret World OC was an exaggerated self-insert, & my WoW OC was just wanting to be silly.

020

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

FC frens convinced me to try out Where Winds Meet and I am being VERY normal about my character and totally not lowkey going feral just looking at her at alllll 🥵🥵🥵

Anye would grumble and find a book to shove under one of the legs to stabilize it until she has a free afternoon to fix it properly. That afternoon will be several weeks later when she needs to reference that book for something and is then reminded the table she long forgot about still needs fixing.

030

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

Current plan is to stick with my Holy Trinity of GNB, RDM, & AST, though with Evolved Mode being a thing I'm open to trying out the other jobs. Also if the new Phys. Ranged winds up being a musket, pistol, or Garlean bayonet job, that may also complicate things.

000

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

Anye's name is intended to be pronounced "AHHN-yeh," but is often mispronounced as "On-Yay." It's cool though, no biggie. Her surname, Vael, is just pronounced the same as the words "vale" and "veil."

010

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

A recent WoLQotD reminded me that I once made Anye's parents in the character creator. Meet Rowan Vael & Lucien Devereux, a working-class dock worker from Ala Mhigo and the disgraced former heir to a minor Ishgardian noble house!

030

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

Anye's dear departed da, Lucien Devereux. Former heir to House Devereux in Ishgard, who threw it all away to be with Anye's mother, Rowan Vael.

If we're talking Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, Hitman type stealth, like physically sneaking and staying unseen? Not Anye's strong suit. Now, if we're talking the sort of stealth that involves social engineering, forgery, deception, & charisma checks? She's very good at that!

010

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 28/06/2026

Is it weird that I've spent almost as much time fleshing out the lore of Anye's homeland as I have with Anye's own lore? I could almost write a complete history of Velodyna at this point. Especially during the time of the Autumn War.

000

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 25/06/2026

Anye would totally be a Limsa hooligan, ESPECIALLY when Limsa went up against Sharlayan because it would be as good an excuse as any to be an absolute menace to her Studium coworkers & colleagues. Thaliak's statue is totally getting a cone hat.

Anye washes her hands once when starting to cook a meal, and again after she's done. She's too locked in once she starts cooking to stop and wash hands mid-process. As a result, she hates working with raw poultry, and often maces herself by chopping peppers and then touching her face.

Books! Anye has an entire personal library built in a former safehouse that she calls Chapel Perilous. It contains hundreds of history books, occult tomes, banned books, apocrypha, and copies of books Sharlayan keeps locked in Noumenon's restricted wing. (And also a nice collection of wlw erotica!)

I'd be tempted, but I don't think I could do her justice. I feel like since I lack her skin tone and her outrageous figure, it wouldn't really register.

Anye? An authority figure? LOL. LMAO, even. Still, Limsa would probably be a better fit for her than other nations, given that Limsa and her both have that "criminals who went legit" thing going for them. But let's be real, she'd more likely become Merlwyb's First Wench than succeed her.

Low-key I kinda resent that the story arc from ARR to Endwalker has become known as the "Hydaelyn & Zodiark Saga." It sounds so clunky. "The Tale of the Star" was RIGHT THERE, it was a phrase used IN the story directly, and it's a much better fit for the type of eloquence often seen in FFXIV titles.

010

Anye Vael @anyevael.bsky.social · 18/05/2026

Well, people are definitely coming back to FFXIV in droves since Patch 7.5. Roulettes haven't been this full of sprouts and Returner flowers in a hot minute, the the number of folks who know more recent fight mechanics has gone way down. Good. Tanking & healing is more fun that way. 🥰

Anye's handwriting and overall writing style is impeccable and eloquent, in stark contrast to the crass, working-class manner in which she speaks.

Something about the contrast of fully-tattooed arms and bare back here is just striking to me.

Rainy days remind Anye of her childhood home, where gentle rain drizzles were more common than sunny days, so she's especially partial to them.

The combination of COVID and WoW shitting the bed with Shadowlands had me in the market for a new MMO to wile away lockdown with. I had only planned to do a quick story playthrough of XIV before going back to SWTOR or ESO, but...I wound up never leaving. And now never will. 🥰
