And the irony of it all is that my dad has said in the past, gently reminded/guided, that some friendships become a thing of the past, cherish them while you have them but don’t hold on until you’re bleeding. He was either sick of me crying over her or he had a point.

We got into a “disagreement” the weekend before my father died because she thought I called her an alcoholic to a random vendor at a wine festival. I tried to fix the problem and apologize on the spot and she fucking walked away from me and left the festival. This is not a one time event either.
